Pagan?

I know we all love Gary today, after his show of emotion and the exciting win yesterday.

But would the Adelaide Footy Club be derelict in its duty if they don't have a go at getting Pagan to coach here?

I'm happy with Gary...

I don't think we've been any lower than about 6th or so this season, and we're in prime position for a top 4 finish, when most people (including me) had us struggling to make the 8.

I'd sign Ayres for one more year and see what he can do for the rest of this year and next.

As good a coachas he is I wouldn't want Dennis Pagan at Adelaide. I don't think he's the right person to coach the Crows.

However if Gary was to go, i'd like to see Rodney Eade coach us.

I think that Gary Ayres has done more than enough to earn an extension in his contract.

He obviously has an excellent rapport with the players (as highlighted yesterday and last year against Carlton at Optus), and has done very well IMO to get us where we are today, considering our playing list.

Having said that though, if we fall in a hole in the next five weeks, then there maybe question marks over him, but if we finish the minor round where we are (or maybe as low as 6th), then that is showing improvement from last year, and you can't really ask for much more.

Gary to stay

Gary Ayers is fantastic. He must be resigned. He is a the future of the club. The players love him and he loves them so he must be retained. D Pagan is not the coach for the Crows. He looks too much like a monkey, his eyes are too close together, his ears stick out and that hair! No way Jose!

Ripper player rumour I heard on the weekend was Buckley to Hawthorn , Harford to Carlton and someone else(forgot or was he forgetable) to Collingwood. Also Chick to West Coast!

What if Adelaide did promise the coaching job to Neil Craig last year or earlier this year?

Were the AFC convinced that we would not finish in the eight before the season started?

By achieving what has been achieved AND what potentially can still be achieved with a list that made very few "experts" final 8's, has Gary shoved the AFC's foot in it's own mouth?

Could this explain their lack of action on the contract, which is quickly beginning to look ridiculous.

Does anyone know what the highest ladder position a coach has ever finished and not had his contract renewed??

The highest I can recall was the Saints with Stan Alves. I think the Saints finished 6th or 7th in 1998 and he was sacked after calls from the players. Could be wrong on this, but it is my only recollection of a coach being removed after his team had seen finals action.

Also Allen Joyce at Hawthorn after we knocked them out in 1993 and John Northey after taking Richmond to the finals in 1995.

Pagan won't want to leave Melbourne.

I'd say Eade might get the 'Roos if Pagan leaves.
