its a catch 22, you either allow cricket to continue in pakistan, a dangerous country falling apart right before our very eyes or let the terrorists win, and cricket/ sport, a partipative culture stops that from happening

or you send teams like australia, england or even india to that part of the world and risk players and officials getting abducted/held for ransom.

I dont think the issue is with terrorists - it's with gambling and organised crime. And gambling/sporting events is a natural mix.
As Pakistan is a Muslim country, gambling is actually illegal there. (Its also illegal to gamble on sporting events in india).
There are strong calls to have sports gambling legalised in both countries. Whether this will make any difference, not sure.

Hence the almost hilarity that Pakistan as a nation hide behind religion yet they (along with India) are the main causes of corruption in world cricket. It is a blight on society that persons on the sub-continent are allowed to hide behind religion when facing questioning. Most or devout...cool...

The PCB just confirmed that Haider was probably not going to be in the deciding ODI team due to 'team balance' and they wanted to play one of the monobrow brothers Umar Akmal in his place as the keeper. Isn't Kamran at the centre of the Sydney Test furore? Thought so...

Oh look another member of the monobrow clan has just debuted...thats 3 in the squad...one on the take, the other probably following his brother and the newest one will no doubt be buggering up for cash in no time.

interesting thing to point out

of all the members of the pakistani team that could speak english, zulqarnian haider proved in the press conferences to the english media that could speak it quite well, the other player who speaks english well is: salman butt.

during last summer's cricket abc grandstand really wanted to talk to salman butt because of how proficient he was in the english language. he was well-spoken to the point it was suggested back then that he should be the next pakistan captain (the captain back then was someone else)

if we were going to wipe out the matchfixers, we have to take out the head matchfixer - Mohammad Asif - the token dodgy pakistani player! When it was salman butt all this time! Well he does have a life off the cricket pitch... :P

theres currently a test series over there in the UAE between them and south africa, no thread present

ive had a look at the pakistani team, it looks like a team of castaways and up and comers. taufeeq umar getting a game? what the? abdur rehman? adnan akmal? mohammad hafeez?

a fair portion of their top 11 is missing in the form of salman butt, zulqarnian haider, mohammad asif and mohammad aamer:rolleyes:
