We got thrashed in the midfield. The Roos are supposed to have the weakest midfield in the Comp.
Who were minding Grant,Harvey,King,Clayton,& Pickett?
Outside of Loewe and Hamill we didn`t seem to have a forward?

Where do we go from here?

Totally agree - pathetic.
Injuries have nothing to do with skill errors. If the players are on a senior list, surely it's not too much to expect them to be able to kick and handball in approximately the right direction.

I'm glad I'm not the only saints supporter that was thoroughly disgusted with that performance.

For us to perform that poorly on Burkey's 300th was appalling.

The Kangaroo's were very good today and I can see them rising up the ladder quite sharply as the season progresses.

Still, that doesn't excuse the fact that we were that poor. The disposal, attack on the ball and decision making was woeful.

I feel almost embarrassed to discuss our injuries because we had a good quality side on the field today and I sure as hell don't want to make any excuses (or undermine the Kangaroos performance today).

Having said that, a full strength St Kilda side, hopefully not too many weeks away, will contain the following players missing today:-

Hall
Hudghton
Delaney
Jones
Callaghan
Lawrence
Riewoldt (in the future)

Other injured players in the mix for a place in the side when fit are:-

Traianidis
Cripps
Plapp
Elliott (not in my opinion)

Why am I getting the feeling that this season is progressing similar to last year? The close losses we had towards the start of the season had a devastating effect on our confidence. As the season progressed, we started to be blown away by the opposition. Please don't happen again!

They say losing is character building. How big do they expect our characters to be?

;)

Note:- I have been out and had a few drinks tonight. Perhaps my views may change a little in a few days time. I just don't know how much longer I can put up with such ineptness from the team I am starting to think I love too much.

If you only have about 5 half decent players having a go on the footy field then NO S*&T you're going to get flogged.

No offense Sainter or Roos supporters, but I am not entirely sure that we'll see all that many games that Burton dominates, Shannon Grant gets 39 possessions & 3 goals 5, McKernan dominating & Clayton getting a heap of it. I can't see them rapidly rising up the ladder. HAVING said that, at least they play as a team & seem to enjoy moving the ball on at the first opportunity, so good luck to them.

It was just insipid on our behalf, sure half the list is injured but that's just an excuse. There was no intensity, we lack leadership on field & we played a very stagnant brand of footy.

They say a week is a long time in footy, well NO S&*T, because saints supporters are going to hope that after this long week the team can actually try to play decent footy.

We hold our breath.

Unfortunately we said the same about the West Coast game, ie how many times will Wilson have a day out and kick 7 etc etc. It is not just a fluke that we play opposition players back into form.

Until we reduce the gap between our good and bad, we will continue to tear our hair out.
I have been away for the last 2 weeks, so I haven't seen anything, but the pattern seems to be the same as last year. An honourable loss against a good team, where the game was there to be won, followed by an insipid performance. Last year we ran Melbourne, Carlton, North close all well into the last quarter, and almost invariably had a huge let down the following week. This more than anything has got to stop.

Savatage,

It is hard to form an objective opinion of an opposition team after we have just played so poorly against them.

I just happen to think that they will make the Top 8.

I was quite scathing of the West Coast Eagles after we lost to them and how I don't think they will win many games for the rest of the season. I view them differently.

Obviously Shannon Grant is not going to have 39 possession, 3 goal game every week but the fact remains that they have had quite a few players out of form and as we saw on the weekend, they look a lot better when their bigger names fire. Number 18 will help their cause too.

Anyway, enough of talking about the kangaroos.

Hit the Boundary Saints is right. We can no longer tolerate so called "honourable losses" or close losses to the better teams in the competition if we are going to capitulate the following week.

Hopefully we will get a few players back because the way some of the team just surrended so easily on Saturday, quite a few players deserve to have a run in the VFL and have a serious look at their places on a senior AFL list.
