AFL always wanting to put the big fish on the front page of the trade periodIMO this was done last week but the AFL told the Cats and Tigers to save it for today.
AFL gotta hit the headlines quota somehowInteresting since he was apparently getting delisted - Pick #99 is hardly breaking the bank, but not sure why Tigers couldn't have just picked him up as a DFA.
Have they got a FA going out the door, as the compo pick would be diluted if they picked up a DFA?Interesting since he was apparently getting delisted - Pick #99 is hardly breaking the bank, but not sure why Tigers couldn't have just picked him up as a DFA.
No. Probably just easier paperworkHave they got a FA going out the door, as the compo pick would be diluted if they picked up a DFA?
Doesnt really make a difference other than piece of mind for the kid. Now he doesnt have to waitInteresting since he was apparently getting delisted - Pick #99 is hardly breaking the bank, but not sure why Tigers couldn't have just picked him up as a DFA.

Maybe other clubs sniffing around.Interesting since he was apparently getting delisted - Pick #99 is hardly breaking the bank, but not sure why Tigers couldn't have just picked him up as a DFA.
A few on our board were a bit surprised he was moved on.Maybe other clubs sniffing around.
Not much discussion from Geelong supports in regards to losing a 19yr old who in the VFL averaged 21 disposals with games of 28-30 possessions mainly off the wing. Seems like very good numbers. Good runner, good size, what are we missing.

Delisting a 19yo rookie to make room for Guthrie and Bews on the rookie list keeps the Geelong list profile at around the right age.It was already announced that he was being delisted so we had already "lost" him.
He was solid enough at VFL level but didn't really have any standout qualities apart from his running capacity. Reminds me a bit of Ralphsmith actually. He was fit all year and never came close to selection even when we were playing depth guys like Wiltshire, Stevens, etc.
I was a bit surprised we didn't give him a second year. He seemed like a nice kid. But Geelong has an exceptional record of delisting the right players. My guess is we thought his ceiling was very limited.
I do like that you guys are giving a list spot to Geelong's delisted rookie ahead of Tyler "could've been number 1 pick" Sonsie though.
Couldn't resist the jibe at the end could ya.It was already announced that he was being delisted so we had already "lost" him.

(Haven't delisted Sonise by the way... yet).

McIntosh replacement by the sounds of it.Nup I couldn't
I do wonder what the Tigers see in him though and what Geelong didn't. Retschko is one of only 2 delistings we've already announced so we clearly thought he was basically bottom of the pile for a list spot.
Unless there's something else going on it looks like we rated Retschko behind guys like Pike, Wiltshire, Stevens, Clohesy, Bews, a cooked Guthrie, etc. Some of these guys have to still be moved on for list spots.
Seems like he had a good season, games of 28 to 30 possessions for a 19 year old is impressive no matter how you judge players. Time will tell, our list manager said we wanted him last year but no spots on list so they have been tracking. Maybe Geelong have to many of his type, we don't other than Ralphsmith, who seems to get injured a lot.Nup I couldn't

Yup, if the cats saw something in him they would have signed him.I do wonder what the Tigers see in him though and what Geelong didn't. Retschko is one of only 2 delistings we've already announced so we clearly thought he was basically bottom of the pile for a list spot.
