Hopefully people will believe him this time, after people just completely ignored Tippett's similar comments last year :o And then when he signed up and everyone told him that it was a huge surprise he said "Well, I did tell you guys I was staying as long as I got reasonable payment each time you asked".

Hope the club pays Dangerfield what he's worth. We need him for the long haul. God I love watching him :D:thumbsu:

Will be our best player in a few (if not one) years time.

Has to stay at our club for us to win a flag in the next five years.

The nucleus of our next flag is
VB
Vince
Porps
Knights
McKay
Symes
Otten
Douglas
Petrenko
Walker
Tip
Maric
Sellar
Davis
Sloane

With the old guys in defence (al la Geelong)
Truck
Johncock
Stevens
Bock, if he stays.

We have to keep all of these guys............

Think I just named our 2011-13 best 18?????

I believe him.

He says he's staying - he'll stay.

End of story.

Exactly right. If he was debating leaving, he'd sit on the fence and say 'I just want to concentrate on my footy right now and leave contract talks to the end of the year' etc etc.

If he publicly says he is staying, he is staying.

Since his dad said he wasn't going anywhere, I haven't had any concerns;

That is the assurance of Dangerfield's father, John, who has moved to douse speculation that his son will become one of GC17's big signings when it enters the AFL in 2011.
John Dangerfield claims Patrick is "definitely happy" at Adelaide, enjoys the city and wants to be a part of the club's next premiership.
He said midfield ace Patrick had not even been approached by Gold Coast and that reports linking him to the club had "come out of nowhere".
"There's been no approach made to Patrick from Gold Coast so I don't know how his name's been linked to them," John said.
"It's a bit annoying because Patrick loves living in Adelaide, he's happy at the club and believes he is part of a young group which can go a long way in the next few years. To be honest I can't see him going anywhere else."

Dangerfield wouldn't "need to tell us he's happy" if the media didn't keep hounding him about it every second day.

Dangerfield doesn't sign the contract until his management has finished dealing with it. Their job, in turn, is to secure the best deal they can get that falls inside Dangerfield's desires. They will get a better deal by waiting to the end of the year, so why wouldn't they do it?

Meanwhile, Dangerfield is doing all of us a favour by publically announcing he wants to stay. He doesn't need to, and it doesn't do his contract negotiations any favours, but he's a classy young man. All power to him.

Could he be waiting to see if anyone leaves? more money left over if they do.

Great news :thumbsu:

I reckon we might announce all our signings at the club champion night again unless the club decides to do so before hand given that we won't be playing in September this year.

Cant help thinking what a boost it would have been in an otherwise dark season for PD to have come out and stated his contract was signed sealed and delivered. There has been plenty of bad news and press...this would have been such statement of future intent.

Conversely the issue now remains open and subject to what will be continued speculation for the rest of the year regardless of how much he says he is not leaving.

Still the timing is a matter for him and until we hear otherwise we of course take him at his word.
