i live in victoria and was wondering about this kid! he is huge! how has he been going over in the wafl. Eagles have never really been seen as a real physically intimidating side apart from the early 90's i supose! Is there any chance of players like paul johnson and travis gaspar coming into the eagles side next year and making an impact? with gardner, lynch, hansen and a few other harder players like waters does anyone think the eagles will start to be feared by other teams??

it's the same injury, it just won't get better. He's had surgery (again) to try to get it right. Apparently the surgery went well....

Johnson could be trade bait for some clubs that lack tall physical presence. Can the kid play as a full forward, or is he purely a ruck?
 
with us getting Stenglein maybe we could trade them Paul Johnson because adelaide do lack tall players and there was a rumour about them wanting a tall player in return so maybe Johnson, and someone like wooden and possibly our 1st or 2nd draft pick

Are you saying this is the deal?

Stenglein = Johnson, Wooden and our 1st or 2nd round draft picks?

Geez, adelaide are getting the best deal ever.

Maybe Stenglein = Johnson and 2nd round - or maybe a straight swap, however I feel to get stenglein it will be a 3 way deal.

Johnson looked fantastic at CHF in the wiz cup. Not sure why everyone is so down on him. He got injured and things went against him. Could happen to anyone. I wouldn't discount him becoming a solid AFL player.
 
In the sun it was a trade teaser Johsnon for Mark Williams. It said we needed another small forward after matera retires (sampi anyone?). What do you guys think?

I think that when Matera retires, his replacement may very well be Ben Cousins- with Morton still to come we have an enormous array of midfield talent coming through and a move forward could be indicated for Cuz.

As fo Williams, I don't think its a priority but if that deal was on the table and nothing better could be gotten, then it isn't all that bad. Williams is probably excess to our requirements but on the plus side he is a very straight kick which is something we rather lack up forward atm.

I went to the WAFL Preliminary Final, and Johnson, who has been training at AFL level all season, and is big and strong looking - reminds me of Lloyd in size and shape in fact, was being pushed under the ball in one out situations by the Claremont backmen on almost every foray into the forward 50. Not really good enough for a man who has been two years on the Eagle's list.

Interesting if true- makes me wonder if there is going to be some kind of Hay deal on...
 
Johnson to Melbourne for Armstrong would be a fair trade. Chambers would be a better deal for getting something from Hawthorn.
