Did anyone see the comments from CC last night. Not sure what the question he was asked was but he responded saying he would put Pavlich in the midfield but was worried about the uproar if he did, taking the Coleman Medal leader away from the forward line.

If CC is worried what other people might think then he shouldnt be in the job. He is there to win games of football, making some decisions whether we want Pav to win the medal or not.

I like to see Pav win the coleman but would happily trade that for us winning games of football if it meant Pav in the guts....

Pav has bulked up too much to be a force in the midfield imho. He is too slow. When we're seen him push into the midfield hasn't done well. Why would we want another big slow guy in the midfield, when they could be at CHF kicking goals? Yet more of this "big bodies win clearances" insanity. Broadbridge must be getting into Cuddles ear.

Pavlich hurts other sides by kicking goals ....leave him up forward.

He hurts us when he misses.

Who cares where he plays? If it's a winning move, then move him. People have been saying it for ages, Pav to the midfield, Murphy up forward.

I'd love to see Pav win a Coleman but the players keep saying that it's not about individual honours. If Pav cares about it then he ends up justifying GT's comments.

I agree that if CC is worried about what other people think, then he is the wrong man for the job. Second guessing yourself to please others is a sure way to fail.

But when Pav played a couple of seasons in the midfield, the cry from the masses was - WTF? Anyone can see he's a CHF - play him forward, play him forward, play him forward....

Rather than having a key forward who is faster and stronger than his opponent we end up with a midfielder who is slower, bigger and less agile than his opponent. Pavlich is hardly a clearance machine, neither is he so intimidating that he makes smaller opponents shake with fear. Of all the players on the list who can play in the midfield Pavlich would be pretty close to the last guy I'd like to see in there.

Here's a question for Chris, list the top 5 Forwards in the AFL, then list the top 50 Midfielders, which list is Pavlich on?

100% agree.

Honestly, when he made those comments about Pav i made my mind up about Cuddles. He needs to go.

Agree. The comment i am worried about is the fact CC is actually thinking about what other people may think if he makes a decision i.e. Moving Pavlich to the midfield.

I cant rememeber a single coach being worried about what a member of the public thinks of his decisions. I guarantee you Sheedy, Malthouse, Worsfold couldnt care less what they thought.

so the guy leading the coleman should be moved to the center, because he's not 100% accurate?

He's leading the coleman but you're worried about the times he misses? I can tell you now that almost everyone would be worse than pav at chf. Pav kicking 4.3 at chf is better than someone kicking 2.0 or 3.0, who while more accurate score less.

That's not what I said.

It hurts when he misses, like the Collingwood game. I never said he should or shouldnt be moved.

i reckon he should go to chb and get him to kick it inside 50 he knows how to hit a target

Michael Johnson named on the ball.

Can't beleive they didn't pick Ibbo or Foster after the weekends game

The fact that he was named in the All Australian side when playing as a midfielder suggests he's more than capable. Pavlich isn't slow, he would certainly burn Bell, Hasleby and the Carr's over 20, 50 and 100 metres.

Matthew Pavlich is our best player in 17 of the 18 positions on the ground. If we are getting beaten in the middle and on the scoreboard it's the obvious move to try to bring us back into the game.

D_B, he is the wrong man for the job - full stop. No if's or buts. He is coming up for 6 years and we are still in the manure, struggling with no real direction.

Should have been shown the door a couple of seasons back.

Wow! he's faster than Bell, Hasleby and the Carr's he must have blistering pace. You missed my point completely, firstly i didnt say he was slow, i said he would be slower than his opponent. Secondly, Pavlich's stength as a midfielder was being able to run his opponent all around the ground, presenting another option for his team mates, not at clearances.

I'm not questioning Pavlich's ability, just the minimal effect he has as an impact player in the midfield. He's not like Jonathan Brown who goes in for short stints leaving nothing behind but a trail of carnage and debris. If we are to get any benefit he needs to play there for extended periods, we can't afford to do that.

I don't think Pav has that much of an influence in the middle (He wasn't a major ball winner when he played there), but sometimes when the ball is being played in the wrong half of the ground I think it would be an idea to play him as a CHB. This way he would both have an opportunity to potentially nulify an oppenent and co-ordinate attacks out of defense with his precision kicking. The problem with this logic is it requires running midfielders to get down the ground to recieve and be offensively skilled. IE Headland and Peake need to be prepared to recieve the ball on the wing and attack from there....

I agree totally. He is a CHF and a damn good one!

I can see the value though in giving him a quarter or so in the centre. He can't get double or triple teamed there and we also have other guys who can play forward - Tarrant, Murphy, Farmer, Des even Campbell. We have a lot of forwards. We have forwards who could walk into a lot other teams not playing for us. With a champ like Pav who can play anywhere, why not give him a go in the guts? It would throw the opposition players. Do they triple team Tarrant or do they go to Pavlich? Hird goes into the mid field when Essendon are down, or to throw the opposition, why not Pav?

Because unlike Pav, Hird wins his own ball in the centre in a manner akin to any quality in and under midfielder. Pav is not like that; he needs to be fed by another like Hasleby or Bell.
