Pavlich Moved deeper into the forward line?

Was it just me or did it seem that Pavlich was playing allot deeper in the forward line and not getting his possessions up the ground?
Could Conolly finally be listening? Or did I miss something.

They moved McPharlap to CHB, Johno or Polak to CHF and Pav to FF. It (almost) worked today.

But, it left the HFF providing the leads to the wing. 2 or 3 of Adelaide's goals were direct from a turnover from Medders being targeted, but being beaten and the ball rebounding for a goal. Peake was pretty good at presenting and kicking it long to the forwards.

He certainly did, but it meant that we had no presenting half forwards, that's why the ball was always stuck on the half back line in the first half. With an inexperienced backline of which many can't kick, it was part of the problem. That's why we needed McPharlin at CHB to provide the drive.

Remember Polak also helped out in the forward line. He kicked 2 in the last quarter and looked dangerous rotating with Pavlich out of CHF and FF. That's when we looked our most dangerous IMO

The only problem was Connolly made the move 1 quarter too late.

Looks like the best bet for us going into the next couple of games, and i hope thats how we line up. Theres no point at having McPhalin at FF when the morons across HB don't know what to do. McPhalin clearly did know what to do, knew when to help out, when to run off his man, etc etc.

Polak looks too slow for CHB, he'd be better off floating in the forward line, particularily when the opposition is double/triple teaming Pav. Polak does take a good contested grab if he can get to the fall of the ball.. something hes been struggling with lately.

You missed something. CC said in his post-game presser that it was part of the game plan to play Pav closer to goal.

Problem is we broke down on the HBF and the centre cause we had no one to kick it to down the ground. I lost count of the number of times the boys just handballed it around in circles, hoping that someone could get free and carry the ball up the ground. If Pavlich was at CHF, than he'd present and they could kick it to him rather than stuff around. Of course then there's another problem because he is then too far from goal...

If the Midfield could get their hands on the ball more ie second half V Crows then the need for PAV at CHF is less essential than having him closer to goal. Maybe Gero could be used out more around 50m.

Agreed. When the Hase is in the midfield it just makes so much of a difference, hes a very long kick, and hence Pav isn't required to lead out 80m from goal to get the kick. iirc, Hasleby leads the clearances and long kicks for the dockers, and as others have said if he plays well, the dockers play well, in this case allowing Pav to play deeper into the forward line.
