Makes little sense to me he always looks ok on the field, the acusation is that he goes missing in big games.
I dunno what we would have to give away for him? But I'm damned sure it'll be a lot more than stinger.
West AdelaideI'm reading thre thread and seein the enthusiasm for Pavlich and thinking the same thing.jmorg1 said:Pavlich has been criticised for not taking too many contested marks. Do you think that's a fair point? I'd say a CHF's bread and butter would be in contested marks.
West AdelaideYes I agree, or a running HBF - he could be very damaging running of the HB line through the centre with his long kicking.Black JuJu said:That's why he'd be more likely to make a good tall HFF rather than a CHF.

West AdelaideOr is that how the coach has him playing?theorangeapple said:i dont think the problem with the palova is that is he doesnt take many contested marks. that is a slight glitch, he can take some great marks. its more that he plays very much a receiver role in the midfield, a role that 100kg 6'4 midfielders shouldnt be playing.
i think that he struggles to get his arms above his shoulders abit, he had alot of shoulder problems as a junior. it may just be practice / confidence as opposed to lack of ability.

I'd missed this thread, and posted a question about this "rumour" on the other thread.dreamkillers said:There is no way Port would give up Carr for just McLeod.
Why would a club give trade a 23yo Vice Captain who is in the coaches leadership group at the club and could possibly play for 10 more years for a player who appears to be past his best and due to injuries may only have 2-3 years left in him.............
Better get a bit more serious with the offers if you think that's going to happen
He aint worth chasing cause he does not chase any morePAfolwr said:I'd missed this thread, and posted a question about this "rumour" on the other thread.
Assuming Carr does not change his mind and is set on going to Freo, I do believe there could be an interesting 4 way trade on the cards.
Nothing that I have heard, just gut feeling because of the various clubs needs and players that are tradable. hence my interest in the trading threads on this board.
I do think that there is a chance that Freo may entertain the idea of trading Pavlich. If not Pavlich, they do have other talls that can be traded.
However Carr for McLeod just ain't never going to happen.
One, he deserves to end his career at the Crows.
Two, like DK said, he is past his prime and Port will not trade for him unless it was massively skewed in our favour. Not to say he hasn't got a few good years left, he does, but not enough to make him worth chasing nowadays.
The crows will look for a ruckman IMO.

Drated in 1999 draft with pick 4 by the Dockers. Played all of his junior career as a CHF. Big strong lad with huge engine who was a pretty good mark. Can kick a mile and has fantastic skills for a bloke that size.crowie said:What is Pav's story? Stiffy you would probably be the one to ask, could you give me a brief outline from when he was drafted? All I know is that he played for WWT Eagles, supported the Crows and rejected going to the Power last year/year before or something.

He started his career at freo as a forward playing along side his childhood hero in Modra. Then was moved to CHB and then eventually into midfield.
We could have got him the year we got Carey but we made achoice that we are paying for now. Port were a whisker away from getting him that year but he decided to stay with Freo.
At 192 cm and 100 Kg he would be a FANTASTIC get![]()

from what i keep hearing you guys think it will remain this way permanently, it won't.
Borscht Mat said:This is not a crows supporter suggesting that it is a good strategy to pay over the odds for an aging injury prone former champion in order to take that final elusive step for a flag is it ?
Ever heard of a guy called Carey ?
What is driving Port at this stage is Tredrea, Cornes *2, Burgs *2, Cassisi, Carr all of who are 26 or under.
Hardwick is a fringe player, James will be missed in a couple of years but Ebert & Salopek will have a go. Wakes will be missed but Mr D Wakelin is hardly the reason Port finished on top.
Carr > Mcloed
Carr > Johncock
You fill in the rest

As Port supporters we always expect to have the window of opportunity open permanently.Crow-mosone said:I can't figure for the life of me, why you think you're getting more than Mcleod for Carr. He's a genuine big game player, - how long do you think your premiership window will remain open?

If you guys dont play him in this final series I think he will be looking to go back west. maybe through the psd and 2 years in Vic.
