am sure that there are many others like me for which he is their favourite player. Like some of the posters on here I cringe at the idea that he may at some stage leave, though don't believe he will. BUT if he does, I suggest that people remember what we had to sacrifice to get a player we wanted, such as Croad (OMG!), Bell, Headland, Carr etc. Look at the asking (and getting) price for Ottens and Hay.

In SA, if Pav wanted to go back, there would be an auction for his services, as well as from clubs in Victoria. I'm definitely not suggesting we trade him, just demonstrating how much a club would have to sacrifice to get him, and I think this would be prohibitive for them. For example, two top five draft pics plus a player of the calibre of say Grover or Johnson. For a club to get those two top five pics they will need to trade massively, and devestate their list. It would be very difficult for this to happen. I also think it would be totally unrealistic that Pav would threaten to stand out of the game, or go to the bottom team in the PSD if he wants to head home.

In short, I can't see him going anywhere. Build a team around him.

We trade pav we are effectively starting the entire rebuilding process again...taking a chance on a kid like we did with pav in 99.
The past 6 seasons would therefore have been a complete waste of time.

I for one am not a fan of loosing 6 years of my life and time.

I think you are right and you could get a lot for him. BUT I dont really see how you could do it or why you would do it.

It was hardly a chance, he was a proven senior player in the SANFL and clearly the standout future key position player in the Draft.

Remind Connolly of that.

That, and the fact that a forward structure should be in place for him. Guys like him don't come around too often - plonking a superstar like Pavlich in your forward line is one thing, structuring your entire setup around him is another. Connolly, and Freo, would best be served with the latter.

connoly is just too dumb to think of setting up forward line around him thats the problem he doesnt do the basic things properly.

We need a sheedy , melthouse like coach.

He did in the last 8 games of 2005.

Pav is contracte un til end of 2007. if he decided to go at end of 2006, they would have to trade half of the crows or power to secure him. and at the end of it the FFC could demand he plays out his remaining yr.

If he went at end of 2007 he will be uncontracted so if a deal couldn't be done he'd go into PSD and end up in melb!!

He'ss in a bit of atricky position.

Pav is

I don't think either of the SA clubs would be willing to give up enough players/picks that Freo would want to trade the Pav. A couple of years ago I would have said yeah lets trade everything for the Pav - not now with our list developing.

While Hentschel, McGregor and Bock aren't in Pav's class the way Craig has structured our TEAM we don't rely on one or two superstars.

Freo would be hell bent in getting all they could and then some for him to make up for their hopeless trading record in the past.

This would put the Pav out of reach for the SA teams therefore the only way I see Pav leaving is if he goes into the draft = Freo get nothing for him and he goes to a Victorian club.

Might end up like Port Power getting nothing for Stevens - just bad luck. Freo would need to "stick to their guns" and either get a lot for him or say stuff it you can go into the draft.

With his dicky shoulder his value is somewhat devalued as well. But either way probably worth 3 first round picks. But Pav being the player he is would want to see Freo get fair compo for him, so either the SA clubs did the right thing or he'd just sign on at Freo and play his career out. Victoria isnt an option.

A spine featuring Tredrea, C. Cornes and Pavlich

that would be super :thumbsu:

And how would you trade for him maestro ??

It would destroy your list, hes almost untradeable for ? Especially as definitely one SA if not both teams are possibly above us at year end.
