Watching Pavliches interview on commetties show has not put allot of confidence in me.
He seems to be destined to go home.

Hardie:"You claimed you wanted to be captain"
Pavlich:"I never said I wanted to be captain"

Hardie:"Does there come a time when you have to cut the apron strings"
Pavlich:"You play best where your happiest"
Following this up with examples of players that have gone home.

These are not good signs,I was always 50/50 as to wether he wanted to go home or not.
Sadly I have now after seeing this interview been pushed to the negetive.

As much as I would love to disagree you with there mate, I think what you said is right.

On the other hand though, Pavlich was very upfront and honest which is not that common when these issues arise. I admired the way Pavlich presented himself, he acted like a man way beyond his years.

But even if he does get traded, there will be positives to come out of it. We can pick up 1, possibly 2 established midfielders and everything will look rosy again. Fremantle don't have to trade until they find a trade that suits them aswell...

I think the bottom line is Fremantle have to have 8-11 wins this season to regain his services.

Yep for sure
Especially when he sorta tried to defend going home by talking about Josh Carr wanting to come home later and bell, farmer, carr etc returning to freo

The interview didn't give me much confidence that he'll stay next year.

I gotta agree sabre.

What I'd like to see happen (3 choices)-

1) we keep Pav
2) we trade Pav to Port for Josh Carr, Schofield and a draft pick
3) 3-way trade where Chick plays for Freo

Either way, hope he has an awesome season.

Chick is over-rated and not worth it. He doesn't pick up that many possesions and is not a natural midfielder IMO. I'd go for Josh Carr and Schofield would be a bonus.

This is how I see it in all honesty.
Pavlich can be replaced.
The likes of McPharlin and Polak are yet to play a game and more than capable players.
He can be replaced.

I doubt we will get schofield,Carr and a pick for Pavlich.
This is what I want.

1st Choice:Beau McDonald and Des Hedland (Brisban 3 way deal)
2nd Choice: Carr and 2nd-3rd round pick (Port deal)
3rd choice:Stenglien and a late 1st round pick.

I would prefer players of similar age to Pavlich as we have put allot of time into him.A high draft pick by itself is a loss as were put back 3 years.
If we are to merely get 1 high pick it would have to be a top 3 pick nothing less.

What about a trade something along the lines of Pavlich and 2nd round draft pick for Carr and Schofield. Or maybe even throw in player, someone like Walker.

Stenglien? Sounds like the answer to a trivia question.

Who did Fremantle trade 4-time all-australian and 2007 Brownlow medal-winner Matthew Pavlich for?

Stenglien? Nah, they wouldn't have been that stupid.

The crows were literally orgasming over Pav last year. Words to the effect, "He's our target and our only target."

Gonna have to screw 'em til it hurts.

dbhattarai - Gotta disagree with Chick. Has pace, courage, kicks goals and would complement the in-and-under Cookie, Bellie and Hase perfectly.

I know Chick is a great player, but I'd rather a consistant player that turns up every week. For example, how did Chick do last week? Got a whole 4 possesions. Not good enough for a premier midfielder.

I don't think it'll be the end of the world if we lose Pavlich (even though hes a 50/50 chance of staying)

Just looking at our list, even if we do lose Pavlich (aswell as draft picks and Walker), i think we have a good nucleus to form a very good side.

I don't like doing things like this, basically it's never going to happen, but say if we do gain 2 decent midfielders (example: Carr and Schofield) for Pavlich, draft picks and a fringe player or two, our side next season will look pretty competitive.

F: J. Longmuir Croad Medhurst
HF: Farmer Waterhouse McPhee
C: Francis Cook J.Carr
HB: Schofield McPharlin T.Longmuir
B: Parker Brown Jones
C: Simmonds Hasleby Bell

I: Koops, M.Carr, Polak, Cunningham

This side certainly looks a lot faster in terms of leg speed.

With good backup from the likes of Siegert, Fewster, Woods, Grover, McManus, Norrish, Toia etc. Maybe even Michael :)

I think Toia is the interesting one but I hear he has found good form in the WAFL bagging 5 goals and playing well in the midfield.

Pavlich going would certainly free up room in the cap, and if we get rid of players like Metropolis (who I hear is on $280k a year?), theres no reason why we wouldn't be under the cap.

Then again, I'm probably dreaming. Oh well, theres nothing wrong with a bit of optimism.

Fair enough.

Lets hope Chick gets 4 possessions this week as well!

Think that J Carr and Schofield would add more to our team anyway.

Still hope Pav stays.

What about pushing for headland and McDonald.
I really rate Beau and think he could be a great player at the club.
But either way Pav is a great player.
If we could keep him that'd be awesome and that what I'd want to happen. But as trade bait if he decides to leave, he could fetch a fair bit, especially with the boottom 4 picks in the preseason draft being a lottery this season.

Either way the dockers hold all the aces in this one.

If we give away Josh Carr, Schofield and a draft pick for Pavlich id find our recruiting staff and run them over.
Even tho Pavlich is a relation of Ports CEO...i cant see Port going big guns at Pavlich...especially when we picked up two key position players in teh last draft. Id prefer to develop Damon White and Barry Brooks and continue with Lade, French, Cornes, Tredrea instead of getting Pavlich and giving away two of our best players for him.

Whoever it was that had Schofield on the half back flank has no idea what sort of player Schofield is....he is a wing/forward flanker.

Having said all this....im pretty sure Josh Carr would not be tradeable at this stage and he has shown no signs that he wants to return to WA at all.
Pavlich is/was a crow supporter and he has stated before his goal is to play with them so i think you will be looking at 1 or 2 of Perrie/Stenglien/Hewitt (all WA players) Burton/Johnson/Biglands.

Stenglien = ok
Perrie & Hewitt = HACKS!!!!

Johnson (Kane I assume) is a Vic and would go home if anywhere.
And we don't need another injury-prone enigmatic south australian (Burton) coz we already have Clive.

Biglands:rolleyes:

And don't be so sure of Josh. Heard from his uncle that he wouldn't mind coming home (esp. for all the $$$ Freo would throw at him) and to play with his brother. If any club knows about brothers playing together its Port.

How does Pavlich and a 2nd round pick in return for Carr and Schofield sound to you Macca?

I dont see why you think we would give up TWO of our best players for one of your best players...especially when he have a load of players like Pavlich on our list in the first place. If a trade was to occur between Pavlich and Port Adelaide, i wouldnt expect Port to give up two of our best players in Carr and Schofield for him and a draft pick.
If anything it would be Pavlich - Carr or something similar.

Port are yet to lose a player to an interstate club for homesick reasons. In fact....Port have never lost a player it has wanted to keep before. We have kept the likes of Carr, Nick Stevens, Lockwood (when he was hot property), and others on our list when they could of made their way home for more money. I cant see Carr being the first

Your claims of
"We never loose players" is a little premature as these players are still young and I dare say yet to peak.
Untill they play there entire careers at your club then you can make this claim.
Chances are you will loose players and my money says Carr will be the first.

You can try and make excuses for it all you like sabre but its a fact. In the 6 seasons we've been in the competition we have not lost any player (young or established) that we have wanted to keep. We delisted Heuskes because his mind wasnt in it, we traded Cummings because we found him to be a liability (and got Schofield as return)...we traded the King of the Helicopter Kick Nathan Eagleton and got Montgomery and Bishop in return...we got rid of Bode, Biglands etc because we didnt think they were good enough.
Nick Stevens had the best chance to go home at the end of 2000...Port struggled, he was offered a truckload of money to play for his Grandfathers club Collingwood, yet was loyal and stayed with us.

The chances are we will lose players...but im saying at the moment we are yet to lose anyone we wanted to keep, and Carr has stated many times before he has no plans to leave at the moment. Sure, he probably will go back home one day....but i think its extremely naive of you to think the likes of Carr and Judd want to go home yet you dont think the likes of Brown and Mcphee want to go home. Why are Mcphee and Brown in a different situation??

Reality is that the trend in the AFL at the moment is for players to 'go home'.

Freo may complain if we lose Pav but Bellie, the Wiz, T Lo and Matty Carr weren't bad pick ups for us so we really can't complain too much.

Macca following that trend and the fact his brother plays for us if I was you I wouldn't be too confident about Josh. Just as I am not about Pav.

Schofield is a good player but one of your best..? Worth a second round pick (we gave away pick 17 for the Wiz and Cartlon gave away a pick in the 20's for Justin Murphy this year).

You're right about McPhee and Brown (although Brown really does seem at home at Freo).

It will always be a battle. Ask the Roos and Melbourne who lost two stars of the league in the last two years.

Keeping Stevens was good for Port but besides him all (or at least most) your top shelf players are south australian (which is smart by you guys).

So no wonder you kept them all.

It is a struggle, but nowhere does it say that the players will always go home.

I still think you will keep Pavlich for the next two or so seasons. If he does decide to go home i cant see him coming to Port so i think a Pavlich - Carr swap is out of the question anyway.

Considering Port are the family club with three sets of brothers already maybe Matthew Carr will end up with us ;) :D
I dunno who we would swap for Josh Carr then...the only other SAlien on your list is Waterhouse and i cant see us trading for him considering he would have played about 3 games in the past two years. If you leave the untouchable group of Farmer Bell Haselby and maybe J Longmuir out of it the only player i could see Port going after is Brown. Maybe Croad...but i dunno if your club considers him untouchable or not.

As for Schofield....he is one of our best players. Im pretty sure he was top 10 in our best and fairest last year and is an important link player in our side. A pick in the 20s for him would be nice.

Every club's supporters overrate their own players.

So all this trade talk is probably pointles until the end of the season

This is reinforced by the fact that the Crows will not need Pavlich so much if Fitzgerald and Schell perform well this year.

Stenglein is getting better and better by the game and I think that the AFC would be very reluctant to get rid of him.

So I reckon Perrie, Hewitt plus afirst round draft pic would be the go.

We will NEVER trade Burton. He is going to be a superstar.

If you don't believe me, refer to my first comment.;)

In short bar your 3-4 untouchables you have nothing to offer.
I will not take 2 hacks and a 1st round pick as we gain nothign and were behind.
Basically you have 3 options.
A.Talk to Brisban and secure McDonald and Headland
B.Talk to hawthorne and secure Chick
C.Talk to Port and secure Carr

These are the options.
Fremantle no longer take hacks for quality I repeat no longer take hacks for quality.
COllingwoog learnt this the hard way.

Well then if you cant secure Pavlich and Brown for us then you wouldnt be getting Carr or Schofield.
Carr is a top 6 player at Port (came 2nd in BnF last year...most improved player, best first year player in 2000 as well) so id expect a top 6 player in return. I wouldnt expect a Bell or Farmer...but you work out whos in your top 6-10 players and thats who Port would expect. So the likes of Pavlich, Brown...Matthew Carr :p

You underate Mathew Carr and it will come back to haunt you.
You coudlnt honestly expect Schofield to be a top 10 player?
Frankly I dont want him.
I only said I wanted carr from ur list
