Anyone care to calculate how much we need to win by to grab first or second on the ladder?

Re: percentage

I'll be happy just with the 4 points and taking an 8-7 lead.

By the round Collingwood's flag chances seem to be increasing.

Adelaide look unlikely to make the 8..
Brisbane last night just lost to Melbourne..
Geelong has lost to Fremantle..
St Kilda has lost to Port Adelaide..
Hawthorn just only the one win so far..
Flag favorites Western Bull Dogs already have two losses to their name..

Considering our only loss to this point in time is to St Kilda. Then with wins over: Western Bull Dogs, Hawthorn and Melbourne we are in a good position so far in the race for the premiership. Long way to go but with a fairly stable injury list and a few more young players poking their heads up we should well and truly be in the race for the premiership, not just a top 4 place which whilst it sounds bizarre at this point of the season is where things are at unbelievably. Even with a tough draw giving up a few tough games to start the season. I would be tempted to say that in Mick's coaching time this is probably his best premiership chance to date with the pies.

We should learn allot from the players today. Young group out there and if they can perform will under the pressure that today's game presents we are well and truly opening our window to premiership success.

SHHHH.

I'm nervous enough about this game without having the added pressure of "bragging" threads on our board before the game has even started.

Yes, I'm confident of a win, but I'm not going to start talking about percentage, premierships or top of the ladder.

I'm under no illusions that my talking about percentage is going to affect the team's performance. :p

Percentage is good. Increasing ours would also be good. Would I be happy with a win? Yes. Would I be happier with a win, no injuries and a percentage boost? Of course. :thumbsu:

Re: percentage

This was my thought before the Melbourne game, but after that near-debacle I've come to not worry about these things.
Though, as someone said, 1 point would be ok (but not sure the old ticker could handle that).

Not even a 100pt win would get us top. Also, Geelong and Freo have to play this round too, both have better %'s than us, and arguably have easier games than us.

A 10 goal win and we may not even be in the top 4.

Alas, a loss and we could be out of the 8.

I'm not sure why you are worried about it. It's only round five and some teams are on top because they've played the worst teams and vice versa. Ladder position is pretty irrelevant at this point.
