We need to get this guy down to the club more often - even if it's just to be one of those grump old codgers yelling over the fence at training.

I think he is heavily involved down at the club. Well at least was when I spoke to him but that was a few years back now in '06. At the time he was down the club regularly mentoring and such.

Back then he was already crying out for improvements and that was after we made the prelim final that year.

Percy was a great footballer and was(is) a very entertaining commentator on the game. When we used to play home games at the WACA, Percy occupied the seat behind me. His acerbic comments on Gerard's match day coaching kept all of us around amused.

Just listening to Papalia and Hackdorn on 6PR and they said they will play some audio highlights from Percy Johnson and George Grljusich as part of their 80 years of broadcasting celebration. It's coming up after 7 pm. Here's hoping they play that famous stoush.

Either way there will be some good stuff.



ps. Hackdorn is still a tosser, but Adam Papalia is getting better and better.

Hahaha, amazing how you miss some details, the whole argument then was about the run from the back half, with Georgie saying our best runner was Thornton and Dodd wasn't too bad either.

I remember that exchange. It was like a flash-back to the 50's.

My memory is that when someone looked it up, GG actually didn't get any votes like he claimed he did. Man was a world class knob. Ego unmatched and had no correlation to his actual ability at anything. 3rd grade talent with a duper star attitude.

That was brilliant, Percy is an East Fremantle legend. I remeber Bob Maumil punching him in the mouth at a "6PR Footy On The Road" show back in the 90's.

Didn't Percy say that Chris Masten was a potential Brownlow medalist though?
