Perrie chance to resume

Crows forward Ian Perrie, who has not played since injuring a knee on April 22, may return this weekend in the SANFL.

And 2005 draftee Richard Douglas also hopes to ready to resume from the knee injury he suffered playing for Glenelg on May 20, forward Scott Welsh (quad) and Luke Jericho (calf) are on target to play for West Adelaide and Bernie Vince (knee) also should be available.

Adelaide, however, will give Ben Hart (broken arm) one more week of full training before making him available to play.

Perrie, who trained with the main squad last week, cannot play for his SANFL club North Adelaide because it has the bye. But if he is cleared to play by the medical staff he can line up for another SANFL club, either in the league or reserves.

Jason Porplyzia, who pulled out of the Sydney clash because of his sore hip, should be fit to face Hawthorn at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

But it is not all good news on the injury front. Midfielder Chris Knights has again hurt a quad and at this stage it is not clear how long he will be sidelined.

The latest injury list looks so much better then just 2 months ago. :) :thumbsu:

Player Injury Expected Return

Ben Hart arm 1 week
Chris Knights quad TBC
Bernie Vince knee Test
Luke Jericho calf Test
Ben Hudson knee 2 weeks
Scott Welsh quad Test
Nathan van Berlo collarbone 2 weeks
Richard Douglas knee Test
Ian Perrie knee Test
Chad Gibson hamstring 1 week

That reminds of something interesting i heard at presentations after North's big win on Saturday. Not sure who it was, but someone who was in the changerooms after the game told me Ian Perrie was in there as well, apparently hes dead keen to return for North as soon as possible (obviously so he can get back into the Crow lineup) so he was down to support his Rooster team mates.

I thought that was a fantastic effort by the big Sarge to get down to his SANFL club and cheer them on.

I really hope Hudson isn't rushed back, I firmly believe in a year off for all (football) knee reconstructions.

Yeah he will have had an entire year off as of round 18.

Huddo! Huddo!!

What will Huddo's fitness base be like when he hasn't had a pre-season and has been recovering from a knee reconstruction.

I would only play him this year if we run into problems with injuries to our ruckmen

Sarge should have at least one run in the SANFL with North to get some match fitness. It would be pointless to just throw him back in at this stage, it wouldn't do him or the team any good.

k
xx

I know Huddo has been doing his competitive work for over a month now, and been in the gym for the last 18 months, but honestly it all sounds too good. I really don't want him to be rushed back, and July 29 just sounds to early. I really would not be worried if he played a few games for North towards the end, but didn't get a run with Adelaide at all. Why would we risk it, possibly ending a guy's career because we got complacent. I hope I'm wrong, but to me this has a bad feeling about it. Great news about The Sarge but.

This must be the 1st time all year we have had a player(s!) with a maximum return date of 2 weeks. Given the long lay off for most of the players, it is good to have the luxury of bringing them back via the SANFL. Would be good to have Sarge & Benny back for the Weagles game.

So all going well would a return to the AFC squad for the Kangaroos Rnd 16 out of the question for Perrie, even half a game???

Welsh expected to play in the SANFL this week??

Hasnt he had a year off?
Word is that his recovery has been better than average and no swelling which usually occurs during recovery.
I put faith in the fact that the club has the best sports doctors available and I am sure he will be more than ready when he hits the paddock.
