The demo is out in the PS Store, bit cynical before I played it and unfortunately you are forced to watch the intro trailer. You get to choose between Manchester United, A.C. Milan, Porto and Napoli in the demo. It seems they have changed the ratings system a bit and I couldn't seem to work out how to view individuals players stats like in the previous versions, but apart from that it was the same as PES 2011 as far as I could figure.

As for gameplay, I actually really enjoyed it. Was able to create some nice passing moves to create some opportunities. Was frustrated a bit at times which is to be expected I guess, but apart from that I thought it was a really decent demo. Obviously won't compare to FIFA, but I am actually considering getting it. I have played with United and Milan so far.

I would actually recommend it.

I'm expecting PES12 to be better than FIFA this year. It came close last year, but was held back by some frustrating errors that look to have been fixed this year, and then some. The new AI system is far and away the best seen in a football game, and that's just coming from a demo. Everything that is shit about FIFA is good in this game.

Obviously it's impossible to fully compare both yet, even at demo stage as FIFA's isn't out until next week. But I have very high hopes for this game, and at the same time some pretty low expectations for FIFA.

I'll get both, but I reckon I will end up playing PES more. The days of dominating the Master League are coming back to me :D

I was also thoroughly impressed with the AI. I noticed that when your keeper rushes out, a man runs back and stands on the line, thought that was great. Hopefully the keepers are much better in demo 2 (released next week), because I have seen a lot of stupid goals due to goalkeeping errors.

And unlike FIFA, my forwards don't constantly run offside in attack. It's been the same since 08. You'd think they would wake up to it.

The passing is amazing, I still can't get over it. Playing with Barca is already mouthwatering.

Konami have said that the keepers have been worked on for the updated code, as has shooting, which is a little limp at times.

I'm so happy that someone has finally realised that the AI can make or break the game, and as EA continue to neglect it, it's good to see Konami act on it.

Oh you got a source on that? If it's true, that's great. PES is back baby!

Yeah countless times my striker will run offside when I am on an attack, or my defenders will get in the way of each other, what a joke.

Has Demo 2 been given a release date, besides mid September?

Bring on Master League and editing teams!

Reading reviews of the newer code from the guys at winningelevenblog.com, they say that it is improved on for the next code, and has been promised to be improved again for the retail code.

I haven't seen a release date for the next demo, but I'd expect it out if not next week then the week after, which will be nice for easy comparisons to the FIFA demo!

Oh great! Yeah the keepers are shocking, they weren't saving shots that were about a foot away from them. And numerous times on corners they would just stand there and not even attempt to make a save. Once they were still barking out instructions as the ball was being crossed!

I've gone on WE Blog but I keep seeing the same stuff which is from August. Could you paste the link please brother?

Yeah it doesn't update as often as FSB sadly.

This article is pretty good, he's using what I assume is the next demo code we'll get, but is certainly one up from the one we currently have. He doesn't mention keepers much, only acknowledging they were poor in the earlier code, and that they have been said to have improved in updated editions.

I played the demo and I felt the movement of the players was much much better. It felt like you could turn with the ball with more fluidity. I only just figured out how to score penalties properly like a week ago. It was always the reason I lost until I figured it out for my Champs League final against Barcelona and won :)

I'm interested in these Become a Club boss etc.

I was always a PES man but transferred to FIFA last year. I found the passing in PES to be too magnetic and not fluid enough. FIFA did that well. If PES has fixed this then I might head back!

Ah cheers for that mate, I'll have a read of it.

I loved PES 2011 Demo at first but the more I played it, I realised it wasn't as good as I initially thought. This one I love more and more I play it. In this, with penalties, I shoot and I score lol, doesn't seem very complex to me haha.

Become a Club boss I assume is like manager mode?

I had PES 2,3,4,5,6 and I got PES 2008 but that was ass, so I converted to FIFA on next gen consoles, but I think, as I have mentioned, with this addition, I'll like PES more. I will still get both, but I reckon I'll play this more.

Passing in this can be orgasmic at times, some of the passing moves my friends and I have done have been brilliant. It feels real to me. PES definitely has superior passing to FIFA, along with AI.

Become a Legend is just like the Be a Pro/My Player mode, and is so far superior to FIFA's BaP it's unbelieveable. Become a Manager seems to be Master League-esque, but appears to be about building your own reputation rather than a team. And Become a Boss seems like an entirely new concept of being like a Chairman of a club, which has the potential to be fantastic!

Wow, being a chairman would be sick. Become a manager would be great too, but sitting there watching match after match would be boring, unless it's main highlights like FM. Even then, knowing I could actually play would make me want to play lol.

Always been a PES fan, never really enjoyed Fifa. Last year was a big improvement and if they can fix the annoying bugs then PES 2012 will have serious potential.

Scoring is what sets PES apart for me, every goal feels special and unique unlike Fifa were the ways to score seemed repetitive... also almost impossible to score outside the box.

Hope they keep improving master league online... it was awesome.

I feel exactly the same. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's what makes PES so great.

It's easy to score outside the box in FIFA, you just need a player who has good long shooting and you need to know how much power to put. I've scored plenty of goals outside the box on a regular basis.

As for PES, once the keepers are fixed, it's going to be ****ing sick. I honestly cannot wait. I wonder when demo 2 will be out? Maybe next Thursday?

Definitely gonna smash Master League like no tomorrow. If it's anything how it was on PS2 (have not had a PES on PS3 for more than a day), it's going to be such a blast.

RE: goals in PES. I do kind of agree. FIFA you had your finesse shots, long shots, and so on, in PES, I think scoring feels more satisfying because the build up is so much better compared to FIFA.

I've always been a PES fan as well, but the last few years have been a bit ordinary.

Going by the demo this one has some promise but I still notice many little things that bother me, hopefully they get fixed or adjusted.

2nd demo should give a better idea of where its heading.

I actually feel like I have deserved to score in PES whereas FIFA jsut feels like the same routine over and over. It even makes deflections more realistic. I have had some humdingers happen to me but they don't seem glitchy, they seem realistic.

Man I just had an amazing game in the demo. I set myself up a little group-stage thing; basically I play as United and play each team twice, and if I get to ten points, I play someone (whoever I struggled most against) in a final, to make the demo more interesting.

Second last game against Napoli, I need a win to stay alive. 1-0 down with 10 to go, and after a fantastic passing move (the sort of stuff you would never find in FIFA), Hernandez finished to equalize.

The rest of the ten minutes played out, and I could hardly get the ball back. Finally in stoppage time, I forced it up my end and won the corner. I knew as soon as the ball was cleared, it was game over. Corner came in, a bit of a scrap, and they put it behind for another. Second corner in, Rooney heads and the keeper tips it around. Third corner and the defender nudges it out of the area, where Park drills back in a volley. The shot was well blocked, but fell to Rooney who, with the last kick of the game, swivelled and finished to give me the win.

PES' unique euphoria experienced once again, even just in a demo!!

How intense are late corner in any game!
