Peter passed away yesterday according to facebook.

One of my favourite players when I first started following football

He was just finishing his Bulldog career when I first started following footy.

Won the BnF in 72, had a good year, but also had a decent hand in us making finals in 74, being a handy foil up forward to captain Sandilands (Welshy 44 goals, Laurie 50). His dad also played for us, so was a lifelong Bulldog.

RIP Welshy.

Interestingly his dad Jack Welsh kicked 12 goals in his career - singles 7 times, and a bag of 5 in the opening round of 1947. The most goals Peter ever kicked in a game (three times, all in 1974)... 5 goals. ️

We've had some handy #4s in our history... Norm Ware, Peter Welsh, Brad Hardie.
Also Kellet, Garlick, Cross and Cyril Harley.
Current custodian goes alright, too.

Hope you're right. I think there was confusion when Barry Round passed away, someone jumped the gun, and his niece(?) posted on BF to say he was still alive, but passed away a short time later.
