Dave Jones and Dave Brown with comments of support. Seems legit. Maybe the next person will be Alex Smith and John Citizen

Dunno what this is about but had to have a chuckle.

Completely agree ! I called up the other day and asked about Swan, was told we are magpies not swans... couldnt believe it...

How do you know it's made in China?

Check out the Company The promotions Factory.. my x's son use to work there and was fired after asking why the company wasnt paying taxes for him... he worked in Vietnam and ran the Contact center over there servicing and working on the Collingwood website and stock items.

So all is made in China and now Vietnam...

They should change their petition to the AFL, (not just Collingwood).
All marketing, promotions & ticketing etc is centralised and run by the AFL.
Check out all the websites, (except Essendon and maybe one other?) they all look the same.
It's all about consistency of image/message and (lack of) quality and of course cost.
I'm sure it was pitched as a cost saving i.e, the AFL has all the contracts and splits it amongst the clubs as opposed to each individual club negotiating their own.
Gee, this has opened up a can of worms for me...

I say they should amend the petition to "Bring Back Collingwood's Individuality" - let's do everything the Collingwood way!!

I don't have the time for surveys on everything that is made or bought from O/S. We have made our own bed regarding the cost of living in this great Country but we must lie in it now.

I'm all for making, designing, growing, building or whatever in Australia, but a lot needs to change in this country before we can go down that road again to make it cost effective.

If it all comes back to Australia I'm sure we'll be paying double/triple and plainly just much, much more for it.

Guys... Guys... Guys

This is NOT a survey !

Its a Petition... meaning you put your name and email down to support... not asking anyone to take a survey ! haha

But this is the only way we can make changes now is when we get the masses to show support for our club... then the big wigs start to pay attention ! Pass around forward to everyone lets get this ball rolling !

This.

The plain facts are that if all this stuff was done here, we'd be paying extra through the nose for it. Then complaining why our memberships increase in price

Australia is a dying country. We have outsourced all industries and the government has sold all utilities. As soon as the minerals run out, we're boned.

Anything made here is twice the price of its overseas competitor and half the quality. I'd love to support local businesses, but it has to be a two way street.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe The Promotions Factory are part owned by Nick Maxwell, and produce Star Athletic - collingwoods's on field apparel.

I doubt a petition will change the minds of collingwoods's hierarchy. But I'm all for supporting australian industry.

He doesn't part own it.

We are not competitive. Same boat as USA & UK for manufacturing.
What's happening to our car industry?? We cannot compete.
We have to reinvent ourselves & develop other industries & services to sell to the world.
Trying to compete with China in manufacturing clothing, toys, nic nacks etc in a waste of time, money & resources. It's no longer 1955.
We have to be high tech, high value & smart. Encourage cutting edge ideas or design, invent new products. Develop Scientific research & spin offs. Rebuild our economy based upon the future (not the past).
Revamp our education system to 'set us up' for the future by producing tomorrow's stars & innovators of the high tech & Science industries. Develop service based industries & export our expertise.
That's enough...I think the crowd has left...

Textiles and printing is a boat that sailed decades ago. Low tech industries that we're never going to be able to compete on unless we want $5 an hour.

I'm more worried about sections of manufacturing and the education based sectors of the economy.

Business Development Manager is a 21st century term for "Salesman".

It's a gender neutral term and the role often has a marketing component ... But "salesman" is a close enough approximation.

That's true. But my original point is that Collingwood has fairly close ties with TPF, and would be unlikely to change their suppliers due to a petition.
