Being in a delusional state, can promote a certain type of decision, therefore if a decision is made it can be considered delusional thinking. Example Mick Malthouse leaving Reid on Hawkins in GF 2011, and thinking that the masses would not notice the negligence he showed the 80,000 odd pies members. Delusional.

Yes but what is delusional thinking? Your example would appear to be delusional in hindsight but was it judged as reasonable when made?

Being delusional the 1000 great ideas you might have in one day, all are well and reasonable. at the time.

So being delusional is a state of being? Does this mean that a delusional thinker is unable to make rational decisions or should we judge thinking on a case by case basis? If so who does the judging?

This is correct, delusional is a state of being, but in saying that is it a bad place to be? A delusional thinker being in a delusional state makes thousands of rational decisions, in their own mind: all the time and it wouldn't matter who is judging them as a delusional person probably considers everybody else to be delusional.
