Petrenko should be upgraded now if we have both Birdman and Patrick Swayze on the long term injury list.

the only reason for upgrading him now or soon, would be if the crows are planning to debut him... so unless he's looking likely as an emergency or debuting, he won't be upgraded till year's end.

If either are in, Port may just get a sell out next week....

Walker gets me exited because he is a player who can obviously kick goals. I saw him against the eagles I think in round 4 and he just seems to know where to lead and when to lead. I like what I saw.

Dangerfield has 'freak' written all over him. Only bad thing in my mind is that he could go either way. Amazing or just another 'rielly' type player (as in really good skills..so much potential..yet never really dominates)

Petrenko seems like a rencarnation of McLeod yet seems to know how to get the hardball gets as well (No disrespect to McLeod)

cant be losing anything by upgrading considering birdman is no chance of playing this year

I think the main reason why players sometimes arent moved up to the main list when there is an LTI is to do with salary. Pretty sure if you move a player onto the main list then that players salary is included in the salary cap. So unless hes 100% going to play, theres usually no point in just moving players up for the hell of it.

THere is a season deadline to upgrade rookies if you want to play them this season

Given we're a chance to play finals we'll need more players to choose from given we have 2 out all season.

Expect to see 1 or 2 upgraded to maintain choice going into finals.

Dangerfield is nothing like Reilly - his poor disposal by foot is his greatest weakness.

Walker, Dangerfield or Petrenko

Who will be the most anticipated debutant.

Walker, coz he's kicking goals, and everyone loves a marking forward with goal sense.

Questions.

1. Would it hurt if we did upgrade this kid, Im assuming of course he is a good player from what I have read.

2. Could the AFL change the rules? ie. Where we wouldnt be able to draft him. Dont laugh at this, it has happened before hasnt it? If they did this wont be hindsight but just stupidity by the AFC for not upgrading him earlier if he is as good as people say.

Cmon stop creating a perception based on what you've heard and not seen.

And how many times have you seen him in the flesh to make this observation

The decision to upgrade a rookie has salary cap implications. That's where the hurt comes in.

There are two situations under which he might be upgraded. Firstly, if the selection panel decide that they want to give him a game in the AFL. Given the injuries we currently have and the relative form of our players in the SANFL this is not outside the realms of possibility.

Secondly, if the club decides that they wish to upgrade him in the days ahead of the deadline (beginning of R19) as an insurance policy. Also a distinct possibility.

Zero chance of this happening. He's already on our list, having been drafted in the rookie draft last year. We don't need to draft him a 2nd time.

3 - Burton, Biglands, Porplyzia.

Seen him twice this year in the SANFL and twice during pre-season training, plus of course vids from last year. Kicking is his greatest weakness and if you disagree, what do you think it is? Not saying its beyond repair though. Most of his problem seems to be that his body is always one step ahead of his kick, so he doesn't balance up and kick it straight. Once he sorts this out, he'll be a gun.

However, the point of my post was to say that Danger is nothing like Reilly other than the fact that he's a 1st round pick midfielder for the Crows.

Fair Points ....although I haven't seen his kicking action to tell whether it's flawed or able to be improved with 5 day a week AFL training ;)
