Petrie rumor

Bad reports coming out!

I've heard from an insider that his foot is shot but nothing can be done and he just needs to deal with it.

This picture was uploaded at the club facebook page last thursday in relation to reports of this injury:

What you are effectively stating is that the club are deliberately misleading the members.

On North's facebook page the rumours surrounding Drew and his foot have just been dispelled by the club-
The Club has posted that Drew will be lining up on Wednesday night for the intra club game in Ballarat- good luck Drew may you be lining up for the Roos for many more years :thumbsu::footy:

A couple of quick things:
I'm only reporting what I've been told.
I never said it was a stress fracture but was told his foot is shot and he needs to learn how to deal with it if he continues to play on.
I like everybody else on this board hope like hell what I'm being told is incorrect but unfortunately I have no reason to doubt it!

With the run of injuries we've had this pre season, the delay in treating Grima, what happened last year to Petrie I think its time that questions are asked of our medical team asap.

Just for the record, i agree with this 100%.

For years North had a great ability to manage injuries, however something is a miss at the moment.

Why Grima and McIntosh weren't treated at the end of the year is beyond me.

Scott Thompson is the same, it seemed like he didn't train for a month then finally goes in for surgery.

Petire last year was disgrace. he should have had the whole year off after he did his foot for the second time.

Now there is the Basti storey as well (not sure if our medical department gave him the all clear to train though).

I think the club is going in the right direction but the medical department clearly needs work.

Hopefully Drew's foot can be managed and he plays another 100 games. He certainly deserves some good luck and god knows we need him.

Surely if Drew had to be carefully managed in relation to his feet, then he wouldn't be playing a midweek intraclub match in Ballarat?

I don't think anyone is having a go at you - I would probably have reported this here had I been told from a good contact. Just discussing the likelihood of the story being true.

In regard to Drew's foot injury last season- the new medical team were not in place at this time

Yeah well, many seem to get apoplectic if -ve rumours are reported, even if the poster who posts such rumours makes it clear it's hearsay.

Which storey would that be? He knocked his knee and was promptly booked for surgery. Or is there a second storey?

This assumes some sort of omniscience on the part of medicos. Surgery isn't necessarily the first port of call. You don't want to be sending everyone off to surgery the moment a symptom appears. Sometimes the wisdom/need for surgery is an issue of hindsight, and all of us, doctors included, are wiser with its benefit.

i was at trainiong on Friday and Petrie was in everything!! So everybody just chill!!:thumbsu:

The reason the medical team left was that Peter Mulkearns was given the power to overrule the docs and manage injury. They felt it contributed to the injuries we had, especially the mismanagement of Petrie.

Were you now, where's your training report? :Stern Look ;)

The only thing bugging me was that there has been two or three training sessions since the rumour broke and no-one has confirmed that Dish has trained without problems apart from the club posting a pic of him levitating on the race and saying he's right. And then BTron posted:eek:

So now i'm happy now:D thanks JYD :thumbsu:

I think I should have clarified that I think Harris10's contact is NQR with his assessment otherwise ol' Dishy boy would be in a moon boot.

As gokangas so clearly put it, there is no 'deal with it' factor with this kind of injury. He is either f**ked, or he isn't. By the looks of things, he isn't.:thumbsu:

I met Drew at a function yesterday afternoon and I asked him directly about his feet he stated that they were fine, he will be playing and he is managing them (the feet) effectively, wearing runners and loose jeans etc

Let's generate some positive energy for Drew by wishing him all the best and willing him to play all 22 games this season (then a few finals for good measure :) )

danj, he'll be generating his own positive energy when he smashes packs and kicks bags in the NAB cup.

Hopefully a big year for Dish in 2011.

a lot of mention about bigfooty!

article reminded me about the vesprimi-urq trade for some reason.

Why would he need to wear loose pants?

Shit!...All over for North fans on BF....Now Eddie will want to own BF, and Dimwit will decide it's best that "The same 4" clubs gets to use it......We'll only be able to log in Twilight Sunday....Disaster!
And the bloody "Go Dees" will have increasing easy access in the next few years!
Carlton fans will stop using it all together to get Dimwit to grant them full access 24-7.
Gold Coast fans will be able to take whatever interweb netspace available......for the interest off the competition.
