Died last night from an asthma attack.

Saw him play only once, at a clinic Tommy was running. Phil's job was to keep the bar profitable through constant patronage, and then swan up onstage intermittently and play the odd song with Tommy for a bit of variety. Played a 10-minute version of Crossroads which I can still hear 30 years later on a good day, or even better, if I'm in need of something to make it a good day...

Sad news, I was fortunate enough to spend time with Phil back in the late 90's when he stayed with my family for a couple of weeks

I believe he was just as gifted as Tommy.

geez sad to hear, I remember first seeing Phil's guitar mastery when I was a school kid many moons ago, my late father said check this guy out, he was on some kind of interview show, probably Mike Walsh/Ray Martin, couple of years later caught Tommy on the same show and my kid brain said to myself you're not Phil;):$

Phil was equally as talented as Tommy, asthma attack god damn and their sister died a month ago:(

R.I.P

Very funny & humble guy Phil was. I think it was 97 he came down to Melbourne & he had some pretty crazy stories about his time on the road with Tommy back in the days.
