Player Watch Pick #18 (2019) - Mitch Georgiades

Although he played well as a high forward, you’d love to see Richards with more goals and assists next year.
He's got really smart forward skill and IQ and knows where to position and crumb plus can actually kick even though he's missed some. But the effort he puts in as a high forward up the ground definitely helps.

Huge year, possibly the best goal-kicking season since Schulz. It will be interesting to see how he pairs with Carr. Hopefully, we see more consistent forward entries throughout the year; entrie to him were mostly good against Gold Coast.

If we can have a fit Lukosis and a young Whitlock, it should make us less reliant on him while also giving him more space.

I expect Georgiades will be picked to play for WA in the state of origin game v the Vics in mid February.

Lets hope he plays well and doesn't get injured.

Just realised Aliir will qualify for WA, as supposedly they will apply the state where you were drafted from rule and not the where you spent the majority of your life between 10 and 17 years of age rule. If they stick to the old rule Aliir misses out but Kosi Pickett qualifies for WA.

If they pick a squad of 35 Aliir will get into that. He might squeeze into a team of 25 or 26. State games they always liked to play extra reserves.

Bloody hell imagine getting to watch Luko, Whitlock and MG after 10 years of bomb it to Dixon
I really enjoyed watching Georgie this year. A shining light in this "annus horribilis" or Bum year! Would really love to see these three work together, and grow into the formidable attack, that they potentially can be.

We have the pieces ... Can our new coaching group put them all together?

I have a feeling its going to take more than 1 preseason under Carr to rectify this. Bombing forward would be ingrained in the back of all their minds.
It’s also not just bombing into the forward line. It’s also bombing from the kick ins to the edge of the square.

The question is, can 1. the kicking skills improve of the players so that they actually can hit targets. 2. Learn to as a team make space (ie run), so that it’s easier to hit targets.

101 I know, but serious lacking in past Hinkley chaos bomb ball plan.

It was bombing it into Dixon because he couldn’t barely walk and there was Marshall leaning on the point post having a sleep.
If your forwards are stagnant nothing will fix that apart from what’s happened, there gone.

Will be playing for WA as expected. AFL posted a few names then removed the post as Rory Lobb was listed as a GWS player. I’d expect a fixed up post soon.

Late yesterday one of the commentators said if Stokes takes a wicket he joins 3 other poms - Botham Broad and Rhodes, who have taken 50 wickets and made 1000 runs in Ashes tests. He didn't but he will before the series is finished.

So I looked up who has done it for both the poms and Aussies.

I included Warne as he was the closest to get to 1000 runs, but didn't quiet get there.

How many wickets did Mitch's father take on debut?

Players like Lawson Humphries and Wil Powell wouldn't make the top 100 of eligible Vic players. They're going to get routed.

I think both teams are picking a squad of 35 knowing injuries will happen in the preseason.

If those two make the final 23 or if they go with 25 players for the match, then you are right.
