Fingers crossed. He looked the goods last night and the last few times from memory. Remind me why we haven't been playing him?
Because Hinkle rewards players that are good solid depth players when they do the minimum see Burton, Mead, Finlayson instead of playing higher ceiling youth.

It's part of why we haven't developed any talls except Georgiades and Marshall. Shaw and Butcher should have been played during the early years of the country bumpkin. Walsh should be getting games this year. Joel Garner had his career stolen from him. Sam Hayes will always be a what if. Many more that are forgotten to the sands of time.

This man doesn't understand that development happens at AFL level. Like a turtle youth will only grow to the size of their tank, SANFL is a pond next to the raging seas of the AFL.

Finlayson was good but if Dante was on the ground at the start of the 4th quarter the crows don’t get those goals.

I get they wanted him running out the the end of the final quarter but just didn’t need Finlayson in the middle with the game as it was.
There was one stage when we had Butters, Rozee and Georgiades on the bench last night during the third quarter just after they took the lead back. Similarly, as you say we had Butters and Visentini off early in the last. We need to be smarter than this.

We started the game with Butters on the bench and JHF at deep forward it was a massive mistake that we made all game.

Got a good one here.

Beautiful hands and tapwork and a great kick for goal (smooth action)

Would love him to come to us to play with his brother in tandem - surely Port sign him long term on decent $$$ to offload Sweet and Soldo

What ya talking about?

He backed Clurey, Jonas, Lobbe, Marshall, Georgiades.

He’s backed Mead when he was a young and developing player - hell he still is.

Shaw was average and never demanded selection. Butcher got games, even when we hadn’t earned them.

Walsh is miles off it. Garner was average at best. Hayes - let’s not start this again.

Anyway back to Dante. I reckon they’ve managed him well. Let him build his tank and size. His craft needs tidying but his round the ground stuff and desperation was great.

Was a solid return. I dont mind the idea of picking him and prioritising development, but gotta temper that with the knowledge he only played against ROB. We probably lose a little short term with Vis v Sweet, but long term hopefully big gains.

Not a lot of difference between the ruck battle in the last 2 Showdowns. RoB probably had a fair bit more impact around the ground though.

Keep your mits off bucko, or else we’ll come after Draper, capeesh ?

Not bad for pick 56
Looked at his brothers profile & he is a very big boy too & taken at pick 8
Wouldn’t like to feed those lads, they would eat you out of house and home

Vigs was pick 8 in the Rookie draft. We maybe screwed up not taking him in the main draft. Bombers took him before we could take him as a Rookie.

The joke is the big sister was a very good ruck in the women's comp in Sydney I think?

Probably beat both in the backyard 😊

Sorry but that is absolute bs. If any of them were half as good as you seem to think, other clubs would have identified this and picked them up and developed them. The only actual discard from our team that I can recall that went somewhere and did even a remotely reasonable job was Snelling - and even then, he was barely passable.

Sweet has shown plenty last season to be given more time - no need to offload him in a hurry. Also don't think he's on crazy money.

Soldo is the big one, on good money and shown absolutely nothing aside from his first few games. Is barely SANFL standard at this stage.

Vis done a great job he should be in the picture now!
Important not to over play him still and let him develop with the aim of next season to be his big breakout. I'd play him against the Cats, but then would be bringing back Sweet against Freo. I feel he still needs to develop his physicality, so up against the bigger powerful rucks he will struggle and knock his confidence.

It's not bullshit though the point is players develop eg get better as they get AFL games instead of the development waste hole that is the SANFL. We can't ever know what these players would have turned into if given a chance to play AFL. Houston and DBJ looked like certain delistings until given a chance.

And yet it was Hinkley that gave them a chance.

You don't reward mediocre performances in the SANFL, so you can't just give out games to players in the hope that they get better with more experience at AFL level (McEntee for some reason seems to have found a way around this rule)

Hinkley is many things, but developing kids has been his strong suit - never been afraid to play them and give them opportunities when they've earnt it. If they're not getting games, there's usually a good reason behind it.

As I said, I can't think of one player we've delisted that has gone on to make even a half career at AFL level. That tells me we've made the right decision.

Most of the players you mentioned got games at AFL level and didn't show enough. With the mid season draft and rookie spots, other teams would snap them up immediately if they were half as good as you suggest.
