Having someone to put pressure on Drew to perform will be extremely handy too.
Exactly what we saw with Visentini/Sweet - Sweet underperformed, was dropped and built his form back up to elite.
Hopefully we see that with Drew if he continues with his average form.
I’d say Mead would be the one under most pressure.

To think we may have gotten a 1st rounder for him if he was up for a move at the time.
Almost all our players traded out have been undervalued during the Hinkley era, yet the two times we clearly had players overvalued (Lobbe and Hartlett) we didn't trade them. :drunk: I mean Hartlett is looking primed for a move into the midfield this year, but still.

Played some handy games for GC in his 3rd year before getting injured. Signed a 3 year extension through 2022.

5 games total in 2020-21 before being offloaded to Freo for nothing in return for them picking up his 2022 salary.

Awesome in 2022. Averaged over 100 for my SC side and he was cheap as. Signed a 4 year extension through 2026.

5 games in total 2023-25 before being offloaded to Port for nothing in return for them picking up his 2026 salary.

I have a soft spot for him and hope he works out for you blokes. Just don't sign him up to a multi year deal no matter what he tempts you with!

A couple of points from the article .....

“The chats with JL (Justin Longmuir) and the coaches have been constant throughout the time and obviously there’s a fare few studs in that midfield that hold down and are going really well so it’s a pretty tough midfield to get into,” he said.
“I’ve been trying to add different strings to my bow to be able to play different roles. To be able to go into the midfield but also play somewhere else as well. There are some guys that flick in and out (of the midfield) in Luke Jackson now, (Shai) Bolton does it, Jaeger O’Meara goes inside and outside. There’s different ways to get in and I was looking at that. But unfortunately, it didn’t come to fruition in the end.

“I spent a little bit of time on the wing last year. This year I tried to get down forward and play that deeper forward role a well to show different ways that I can help the team. I am confident I can do inside, get the ball from the inside to the outside for those guys, but just trying to add different things was part of the plan and I certainly tried to showcase a little bit of that throughout the last couple of years in the WAFL.”

Brodie now links up with former Fremantle midfield coach Josh Carr, who has taken the reins as coach of the Power, having mentored the midfielder in 2022 when he played 24 games for the Dockers. “He was one who was keen to get me across … just to get a fresh start with someone who believes in me it sort of was a pretty easy opportunity to jump at,” he said.
“I feel like I played some good footy that year so hopefully I can try to get to that form and build on it.

I will be able to bring my strengths. Carr has always been one who wants me to bring my strengths and showcase them. My ability to get the ball on the inside and try to help those stars be even better, be able to damage and thrive."

Attitude plays a big part in a players career and Brodie seems to have the right attitude, I hope he finds the form he's been striving for.

He said his little brother was one of the first to contact him after the trade with a hearty Lol they sold you for a packet of chips :D

Exactly what I would do if my brother got traded for pick 103 😅

It's such a weird situation with him at Freo. Looked as if he finally unlocked his talent in his first year there, and then fell off the face of the earth for 3 seasons.

Seemingly hasn't had any injury issues and no off field stuff has come up so you presume he fell out of favour due to defensive issues or failure to follow team standards. But if that's the case and his papers were marked by Freo then you'd have expected him to be traded at end of season 2023, not spending another 2 seasons moping around the WAFL.

He's still nominally in his prime so happy to give him a go when there's a contested mid sized hole in the list. But lots of question marks as to how a highly junior has ended up on the scrap heap of 2 clubs already- maybe he just doesn't give enough of a shit and is happy to coast.
Brodie doesn’t have a tank which is always going to make things difficult

The new rules might help, play him instead of the sub and give him 50% gametime in bursts. Hes an attacking player

Ned Long from Collingwood is kinda similar and killed us in round 1, I can see Brodie having the same impact.

Iirc he had injury issues in the middle/back end of 2023 where he would’ve probably found himself back into the team otherwise but unfortunately no looking back from there.

A trade was explored last year but no suitors.

Play him in a role where he only needs to utilise his strengths and he’s a bargain pick up with an extra spot on the bench imo.

The Hornet going down makes scouting Will n keeping Watkins et al pretty dam smart.

Kudos for plugging that gap. Josh shaping up as a bewdie.

Hopping Lai gets a look in too. There's something there.
