Its not a public holiday in Victoria tomorrow, that's where the paperwork has to be lodged. We have a team in Victoria working on trades and watching the combine. I'm sure they can lodge the paperwork tomorrow.
I meant more the actual unveiling and photo op will probably be done on Tuesday morning then release on social through the day.

I never said that we would fly up the ladder but the facts are he played more then half the year in a team that did much better in ours and plays in a position that he would be a starter. It’s not about winning the premiership next year it’s about making the team stronger and to do that out 15-23 players have to be better. We shouldn’t be getting beaten by huge margins but making it tough to beat us.

He’s not required by the club he’s been playing for.

On what basis?

They obviously don’t believe he fits in with their future plans.

I don't even particularly like the Wehr pick up, but there's still no basis for either of the above statements. Why would they play someone 14 times this year if they didn't want him?

Someone who’s been dumped by his prior club is an automatic starter for us come round one.
I’m not knocking the lad but this tells you the reality of where our list is at.
Well tbf Bulldogs also wanted him so maybe there list is average too?

If you were to go by Port fans on Bigfooty, any player that's not an A-grader shouldn't be acquired even via free agency.

There are salary caps in place for this very reason, so that no team just simply gets 23 A graders via trades and free agency.

Dogs are experts at beating up on lower sides but struggle against the top sides.
Last year I think they had the third best percentage but finished 9th.
Their defense has always struggled for years and still does.
They are just above us but in reality miles from a flag.

I think people realize not every player is a A grader.
What people miss is you have to be realistic at what you’re actually getting.
If he’s crap at his old side you’re most probably going to get the same but you might be able to improve him a bit so you pick up a foot soldier that most teams are made off.
That’s about the best realistic result you can hope for.
Yes you might get super lucky and he works out to be something better than expected but that’s a long shot.

Yeah but he wouldn't possibly be crap if he's played 15 games this season?

Giants are in need of list spots whichever way they can get it. I know Wehr was a rookie but now it gives them options to delist and re-rookie someone else.

I hardly think he's "crap", imo supporters have to stop pretending that everyone that isn't an A-grader is crap. We do that far too often on this board imo.

Fwiw, I'm not even sure Wehr starts if we get Fiorini but that's besides the point.

As I said going back pages ago he might turn out right and he’s a free hit.
It’s just he’s 27 now and only played 39 games in five years is a bit muh.
I believe he did have a bad shoulder injury that kept him out at one time.
As you said he played enough games last year but that’s also makes me think why are they happy enough to let him go because he has been delisted and then put on the rookie list with them.
Maybe it’s not the football side of him that’s the problem.
Anyway most people like free things in life.

The reason why GWS have let him go is cause they need list spots. Wing/HB is also a position that they have a lot of depth in. So they can afford it. We're bringing in someone that's a mature ager and can provide some good leadership at SANFL while also being more than capable of pushing for an AFL spot.

Port had poor depth last year which meant there wasn't strong competition for spots. Port have very little in terms of draft capital in a draft year they clearly don't rate.

If wehr has a good pre-season he is likely to be best 23 as a solid role player. If he isnt best 23 he will be playing well in the sanfl and pushing for a spot. He costs nothing in terms of capital and will be on a low afl salary. There should be zero trouble with him settling into the club or the state. It's a win.

We played some pretty average players this year, some very injury prone ones, and some pretty old ones. I reckon there is room for a few.

I hope we give Wehr a real crack at it if he can show the standards we need.

One thing for sure I know is that Carr isn't handing out golden tickets. You earn your spot and you keep it by maintaining standards.

Just wait til we find out Carr has secretly been an avid marble racing bettor all this time and starts a new gold pass syndicate buying all the black marbles.

In the last game we won against the Gold Coast, we had Lord, Ratkins, Mead, McEntee and fat Rioli playing at the back end of the rotation with rookies galore. Boak also played but got a fair whack of possies.

The Bigdog on Twitter was right!

What’s he got for us next? Will Brodie is coming to Port? Surely not?! 😱
