Strategy Pick trading pre-draft and mid-draft

I think Bris might try and move one of our picks in the 30s up a bit to try and get 2 picks in before a Connor McFadyen bid if we can - no idea how feasible it will be though (first 3 picks are 18, 30, 35).

One thing that is really going to make trading during the draft harder is that I assume you will still only be able to take in as many picks as list spots - so your currency to move up will be limited to those picks/future picks. That's quite a different scenario from how live trading works in some other sports.

I’d think that both 30 & 35 might be before a bid for McFayden. Thinking he’s a 30s-40s player.

Being out injured for the last 3 months probably helps with that! I'm not close draft watcher so I'll take your word for it :thumbsu:

Noble said today it's unlikely the Lions will try and move their picks, unless some to good to pass up is offered.

Are there any pick swaps that your board is speculating on?

Is your team likely to move up or down?

With West Coast we have 20 and 22 and then late picks. Potentially we might look to use a future pick to get a third pick in the top 50. I'm just speculating here.
Given you probably need to set picks aside for Tim Kelly next year, that will not happen.

We’re really keen on Rankine but so are the crows. Not sure how we’d manage to land him without paying massive overs to St Kilda or Gold Coast

Kane Cornes said that the Crows will live trade picks on draft night and if he's correct I'm sure we will be trading up.

Blues board have this a possibility come draft night

Carlton In Picks 5, 6, 8 & 29
Pick 29 traded to another club for future 2r
Carlton Out Pick 1 & future 1r

Suns In Picks 1, 10, 13 & Blues future 1r
Suns Out Picks 2, 3, 29

Power In Pick 2
Power Out Picks 5 & 10

Crows In Pick 3
Crows Out Picks 8 & 13

I think looks complex and don’t think will go along those lines but would like a good result like that if can see 3 players in this draft in the top 8 becoming future afl stars

Looks sound but the only one i see maybe not falling in line would be port as that is 2 x top 10 picks to move 3 spots when rozee who they want should be there at 5 anyway. If it was 5 and a 2019 1st maybe they might but their current hand is good enough and cripps seemed to suggest they are very happy with their position for the draft

I think lot of teams being well placed.

Not sure if Blues would be willing to part with pick 1 & 2019 1r. Might come down to who Crows want in the draft.

Will the Suns really care that much about Walsh to sacrifice Lukosius, Rankine/Rozee and Smith?

They're in an amazing position draft wise right now with three picks in the Elite Eight. I don't know why they'd burn it all to get Walsh and a couple of lesser prospects.

A season with strong SA talent should make this a very interesting trade time to watch how the SA clubs try and get first access

Ultimately if it’s the view of GC and Saints that their preference is non-SA they could really cash in

Equally the SA clubs can recruit top end talent with limited (but not zero) leave risk

Don’t think Suns will be interested in trading for Pick 1 and-or Blues future first?

I can't see the Suns focusing hard on next years picks. They'll want to bring in as many top line kids this season as a group and try to bond them together to keep them.

I am of the belief that this is there last chance to get things right. If they're in there current predicament in 6-7 years time and showing little in the way of market growth then they might get shelved.

You don’t think Picks 1, 10, 13 and Blues future 1r will bring in just as good of talented kids through the door as 2, 3, 6 & Suns future 2r?

If I was Suns would go for option 1, gun mid and plenty talls still to pick from and a future first

Carlton would go for option 1, not so sure about the suns.

They need to bring as many quality kids on to the list in one group as they can, and they'll still have good picks next year anyway (Noah Anderson)

If I was them I would be doing biz with both Port and Adelaide.

Pick 3 to Adelaide for 8 & 13.
Pick 6 & 29 to Port for 10 & 15

Take picks 2, 8, 10, 13, 15 and 24 to the draft.

6 picks inside the top 25 and 2 in the top 10, instead of 4 inside the top 25 and 3 in the top 10.
