like i want him in a Port jumper, I love the idea of Cunnington, Tapscott and or Pannos, however, Jack Trengove in a Port jumper... WHOA!

This draft may be shallow from pick 26 and beyond, but the top 10-15 kids are going to be as good as most drafts best youngsters!

The player most likely to be taken by Melbourne at No.2 in this year's AFL Draft won't be attending this week's draft camp in Canberra.

Gun South Australian midfielder/forward Jack Trengove will remain in Adelaide to train with Sturt ahead of Sunday's SANFL Grand Final against Central Districts.

The 18-year-old fired in Sturt's preliminary final victory over Glenelg at the weekend, gathering 29 silky disposals in a near best-afield performance.

Melbourne has already decided to swoop on elite midfielder Tom Scully, from Dandenong, with its first selection and would have been impressed by Trengove's weekend performance.

Together, the pair could be foundations of the Demons' midfield for the next decade as the club looks to rebuild its list.

The other player they are strongly considering is dynamic Peel Thunder midfielder Anthony Morabito.

Melbourne, which nabbed key forward Jack Watts at No. 1 last year, is again set to play a major role in this year's AFL Draft with four picks (1, 2, 11 and 18) in the first 20.

The 11th selection will come from Carlton in a swap for tough-nut Brock McLean.

Representatives from all 16 AFL clubs arrived in Canberra today to watch 75 of the best teenage talents in the country sweat their way through four days of testing at the annual AFL Draft Camp.

A new feature of this year's camp is a kicking assessment designed by Nathan Buckley. It will be completed on Thursday.

A month ago would have done it in a heartbeat. 5 picks in the top 20 of the last uncomprimised draft would have been rediculous. However the emergence of Jack culminating in his best on last week has me sold that hes our man at 2.

Trengove has a heart and passion for winning. You can't buy that sort of pride in ones own professional conduct. We need Scully and Trengove - the other young players on the list will follow.

I read that Trengove is playing in his third premiership side in a row (if they win of course) after winning the club’s U17s and Reserve sides the last two years!

The kid is used to success and winning big games! He seems to be a perfect player and has awesome development experience

For Trengove, that is fair enough Dez. I understand and respect your decision

For Butcher, If you say "alot better than 12 months of "s" word form ala Butcher", I think you are too harsh on him. This is because he had a few bad run, not as long as 12 months unless you show me evidence of every "s" word games he had played over 12 months.

I agree with you that Trengove had a great game and worth considering top 2 pick or even pick 1 - no doubt about that. Scully and Trengove is a great midfield combination - similar to Judd, Cousins and Kerr at WC before. Let's be honest and fair Dez, we all know that Butcher is the best KPP in this year's draft. However, if you say Butcher is "s" word described by you or even a dud, I think you are wrong. Apologise in advance if my understanding from your statement is incorrect.

Regardless what MFC recruiters will do with Pick 2 whether it is Butcher or Trengove, I am happy and no doubt will respect their recruiting decision.
