I think people are seriously over reacting here. Might I remind you all that a lot of good players or value for pick players have been picked late in the ND or in the rookie draft.

Wasn't Lyons pick 62 or 64 a year or two back? Henderson and Wright were both rookie selections. Even player like Jeansch, Luke Thompson and Martin were rookie picks.

There is no reason why we cannot do just as well this time around. I still think we will go for younger player in the 18-22 age bracket.

All this talk about duds is very pre-mature. In the last few years we have made some very good picks late in the draft or in the rookie draft. I doubt there would be any delistees or retreads. We will go for kids that a either high risk, his reward or kids that might have been overlooked a year or two ago but have improved a lot in that time.

Ogilvie alluded to picking up an 'unknown' player with pick 54 (or whatever we had), probably still the same with a later pick. Don't we need some picks for rookie upgrades? Laird should be upgraded.

To be fair we had a different recruiting team back then but in the Rendell-Ogilvie era, we have made some pretty bloody handy pick ups with late picks or in the rookie draft. I was under the impression Rendell was responsible for the SA based lads but Ogilvie had a lot to do with the kids from Victoria. Of course Rendell had the final call but still, Ogilvie recommended a lot of these kids.
