For 2010 - 2011 would have to be Reid - apart from beating his man he now takes the game on and his kicking out of defense is a joy and privilege to watch. But for me watching Daisy going down back a couple of years ago to emerge last year as a vastly improved player, he has again raised the bar this year.

all great selections - improvements made under a variety of circumstances.

reid - essentially asked early in the season to carry the backline with the retirement of presti & injury to brown. tarrant had the experience but needed time to adjust to our game plans. reid accepted the challenge and now a permanent fixture.

ball - a fine 1st season with us, but still clearly unable to run & stride due to previous conditions. now over those issues and added running forward, contesting every ball up, and for me the most pleasing, consistency. amongst the highest possession winners every single week. thanks ross.

toovey - amazing what some confidence can do. given a job every week but approaches it in a way ive not seen before. seems to have fox like reflexes, able to cope with the bouncing ball and contested ball situations and embarrass his opponent.

special mention - thomas - why do i have the feeling he is still holding back ? still has something up his sleeve to elevate him to clearly AFL. he has it all.

Who saw Leon Davis playing as a new recruit and adding a whole new dimension to the side this year, not me, that's for sure. Thought he'd wax and wane with his mate Krak up forward and that's about it. His kicking from full back has elevated him to the status of genius.

Kicking straight is what Trav needed to do to improve, he’s been kicking straighter. Is he doing anything differently, despite all the hullabaloo about ipods, it seems he’s doing not all that much different. Maybe he’s practicing more, not sure, he still misses some absolute sitters. Trav hasn’t shocked me though, like Leon has.

Blair, sidey and reid, just feels like 2010 never ended the way they are playing, their stellar form has continued.

Thomas is just an enigma tangled in a hair brush. Pendles is all silk.

Who would have thought we'd be launching a premiership defence on the back of taz and davis beside eachother at full back, bit of a brain buzz really...

For what its worth, i always said to my brothers, play taz in the back half (back when he was a miskicking forward). they'd laugh at me.

No, Mark harvey is not my brother.

Leon Davis. The other players mentioned have improved but were showing great signs last year. Davis had a nothing year in 2010 and then got shifted to defence to be in contention for the AA side. You can't improve much more than that IMO.

For Trav to turn his goal kicking woes around is more difficult to do than most ppl think. That is a huge mental hurdle, just look at St Nick...

But Reid has improved the most from a 2010-2011 basis then leon/cloke

Simon Buckley - The guy is a great call up for the team when we are struck by injuries and so on, he's been handy for us this year and I think it's great that he's been getting the seniors opportunity.

Travis Cloke - Well what can I say, we all wrote him off at the end of 2009, but the guy has turned around and become one of the gun forwards in the competition. His strength is incredible, he could beat 99% of defenders in a 1-on-1 marking contest. His goalkicking has drastically improved too, now while he makes some silly errors in his kicking at times, he is third in the Coleman medal and could win it to be honest.
