I'm sick of these Sunday 3:20 matches

I hate any Sunday games especially the late ones because I have to stop drinking at half time because I'm 00
on my HR license so I can't turn up hung over on Monday mornings

They lost one of their best players in the warm up.
They lost a player for three quarters of the game.
They lost their number one ruckman, and arguably their spiritual soul for over a half.
Make no mistake, their gameplan dragged us down to their level and we were unable to put a cohesive plan of attack to combat it.
But we were very lucky as had those three things did not happen the result may have been different.

However, we won. Banked the 4 points which is all that mattered and we’ll move on to the next game.

Three things: we need a back man over 192 cm

Enter Darcy Moore

Sent from my Warped mind [emoji89]

I was at the game and I don’t blame our below 192cm defenders........I thought our on ballers were lazy today.

Carlton had three players we had stop.....we failed in all three.

Kudos to those three Carlton players.....I need a shower now.

Not sure 4 umpires work, looking at the table - 49 free kicks and so many more were missed or not paid.

Also out tackles seemed down, don't we make more than 51 usually?

Our tackling numbers are high when we play with that manic pressure and intensity. Today we played like we had the week off and we lacked any real intensity. We lifted when we needed to, but it was our pressure was only evident spasmodically today. Carlton showed more intensity than us for majority of the day, but we still won, so thats a good sign, in a way.

**** it is hard to please some people. Last game was beautiful, this was ugly.

We won our fifth game in a row, taking us to 9-4 and are 4th on the ladder.

Get some perspective.

Just got home after witnessing that tripe.

We were very, very poor.

Greenwood, Daicos, Mayne, Dunn, Scharenberg were all pretty awful.

And Tom Phillips had one of the more ineffective 28 disposal games you'll likely ever see.

Just take the 4 points, and move on to next week.

Daicos needs to spend some time back in the seconds. Needs to work on his tackling as well.

Scharenberg was beaten by Curnow. He isn’t going to be the only one. I thought Dunne could have done a lot more to help out. There were a few occasions he was caught out and got to the contest too late.

Pretty much agree with what you said. Greenwood, Daicos, Mayne, Dunne wee poor today and Phillips wasn’t damaging at all.
Thomas had probably his worst game of the season.

We are going to have these games. Probably flat after the bye.

Would like to see Murray come back in for Appleby.

Beaten us once haven't they?
Nah they beat us in 2013 and again in 2014. Close losses by five and seven points. The first one came twelve months after we beat them by 98 at the 'G, when Pendles played with a broken leg. Ablett ripped us a new one in 2013 with 49 touches and a deuce. What is it with our history of not tagging blokes? Sam Day (of course had to be some muppet) kicked four the second time around. Since then, business as usual.

We are, and winning them when you're so poor is half the battle.

As for Murray, I did the double-header and watched the VFL - he was SLAUGHTERING the ball by foot. No-way known he returns in the short term.

You told me at half time that you'd be happy to just get a win, even if it was an ugly twenty pointer!

I am happy we won but I said I would also say that we played Far from our Best

Bit like how we played in RD 1 vs the Hawks

Carlton played a similar style today that geelong did when they beat us. Made it a slow low scoring game. We dont seem to cope well when teams do that, we need to find a way around it.

Does anyone else feel this way or just me?

I think we just had an off day Stoods.

Never felt threatend in the game at all.

Beating Carlton always feels good.

To the Carlton cheer squad chanting.....we hate Collingwood we hate Collingwood.......bahaha......enjoy the wooden spoon AGAIN.

Might want to give the keyboard a little clean too!

Agree. We are not the Most Skilled Team and our Finishing is hot and Cold.

Other Teams will catch on that we struggle with this Style and we have to find a Way to play better against it

I always thought it was the AFLs plan to promote Sunday football by putting us in the timeslot lol. We do seem to have a fair few sunday games.

They want more TV Viewers they might of given us this TimeSlot to get more Viewers

I'd nearly agree with this assessment. Although watching it live, maybe give Curnow the 3, as he was more spectacular. This kid can play.

He was very good but Cripps IMO was more influential......his gut running was very impressive to watch live.

Now I need another shower.

After a scrappy affair, Collingwood overcame a staunch Carlton outfit by 20 points, and secured a place in the top four after 14 rounds. The Magpies were able to win more disposals (387 - 336), won the contested ball by +13 (125 - 112), and record 34 more uncontested possessions (262 - 228). The Magpies won the Inside 50’s by +16 (53 - 37) against the Blues and took 3 more marks Inside 50 (14 - 11). Carlton were able to take more marks (124 - 108) without translating that level of control with more forward territory. Collingwood recorded 41% of its possessions in the forward half, while the Blues had 30% of their disposals in their forward half, rendering their advantage in the marks category ineffective and irrelevant.

Steele Sidebottom (31 disposals @ 81%, 12 contested possessions, 302 metres gained, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 5 score involvements, 8 clearances, 3 centre clearances & 5 stoppage clearances) was impressive around stoppages, while Tom Phillips (28 disposals @ 75%, 501 metres gained, 8 marks & 8 score involvements) provided plenty of territory. Scott Pendlebury (29 disposals @ 86%, 9 contested possessions, 455 metres gained, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 4 clearances, 3 stoppage clearances, 9 score involvements, 6 Inside 50’s & 1 goal) played a great captain’s game and has kicked a goal in every game since returning from injury. Taylor Adams (24 disposals @ 67%, 13 contested possessions. 5 marks, 3 tackles, 4 score involvements, 3 tackles, 4 clearances, 2 centre clearances, 2 stoppage clearances & 4 Inside 50’s) played his role well without being perfect, while Brodie Grundy (20 disposals @ 85%, 10 contested possessions, 34 hit-outs, 6 marks, 3 contested marks, 7 score involvements, 5 clearances & 5 stoppage clearances) had a very good ruckman’s game in outpointing his opponents Matthew Kreuzer and Sam Rowe.

Jack Crisp (22 disposals @ 82%, 6 contested possessions, 426 metres gained, 8 marks, 4 tackles, 8 score involvements, 5 goal assists & 6 Inside 50’s) had his most damaging game of the season off half-back, with more than half of his score involvements resulting in goals. Jeremy Howe (21 disposals @ 90%, 10 contested possessions, 381 metres gained, 13 intercept possessions, 9 marks, 4 score involvements & 6 Rebound 50’s) was impressive with his intercept marking in the second half. Matthew Scharenberg (21 disposals @ 90%, 5 contested possessions, 9 intercept possessions, 6 marks, 3 tackles & 4 score involvements) was good with his ball use, as was Tom Langdon (21 disposals @ 81%, 7 contested possessions, 351 metres gained, 5 marks, 4 tackles & 4 Inside 50’s). Brayden Maynard (21 disposals @ 76%, 5 contested possessions, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 6 intercept possessions & 3 Inside 50’s) provided support when he was required.

Will Hoskin-Elliott (13 disposals @ 92%, 6 contested possessions, 6 marks, 2 contested marks, 3 marks Inside 50, 7 score involvements & 3 goals) got Collingwood over the line in the second half, and remains the only player to have kicked a goal in every game this season. Jaidyn Stephenson (8 disposals @ 88%, 5 marks, 3 marks Inside 50, 6 score involvements & 3 goals) burst to life in the opening term with two goals, before settling the side’s momentum with his 3rd goal in the third term. Mason Cox (9 disposals @ 56%, 8 contested possessions, 6 hit-outs, 4 marks, 3 contested marks, 4 score involvements & 1 goal) continued to be a focal point, while Brody Mihocek (8 disposals @ 75%, 5 contested possessions, 6 marks, 2 contested marks, 4 tackles, 3 tackles Inside 50, 4 score involvements & 1 goal) provided a constant target in front of the ball all day, and Jordan De Goey (18 disposals @ 67%, 4 contested possessions, 343 metres gained, 6 marks, 2 marks Inside 50, 4 tackles, 4 Inside 50’s & 1 goal) continues to be a threat on the scoreboard when he’s not playing in the midfield.

Patrick Cripps (29 disposals @ 83%, 20 contested possessions, 303 metres gained, 7 marks, 3 contested marks, 2 marks Inside 50, 9 tackles, 9 score involvements & 3 goals) was brilliant in a crippled unit for the Blues, while Charlie Curnow (19 disposals @63%, 10 contested possessions, 455 metres gained, 10 marks, 5 contested marks, 2 marks Inside 50, 5 score involvements, 6 Inside 50’s & 3 goals) and Kade Simpson (31 disposals @ 81%, 6 contested possessions, 412 metres gained, 7 intercept possessions, 11 marks, 4 tackles & 4 Rebound 50’s) all made the Blues extremely competitive and challenging for as long as they were. Liam Jones (17 disposals @ 65%, 4 contested possessions, 11 intercept possessions, 14 marks, 3 contested marks, 3 tackles & 7 Rebound 50’s), Dale Thomas (25 disposals @ 84%, 412 metres gained, 12 marks, 4 Rebound 50’s & 3 Inside 50’s) and Jacob Weitering (11 disposals @ 82%, 5 intercept possessions & 9 marks) took a large number of intercept marks without impacting the result.

A trip against the flagging Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium on June 30 is next for the Magpies. Plenty of belief and confidence in the group to press the advantage towards finals qualification.

Anyone reading the Richmond flogs on the main board thinking we making up numbers

Fair enough for them to think that. They are entitled to be w***ers, because they are.

We havent beaten anybody yet, mainly because we havent played them. But like Richmond of last year we are taking full advantage of the draw.

The whole competition might start taking notice over the next six weeks if we start taking some scalps.

Now now
Don’t you be trying to be pragmatic and logical.

It’s a long season.
Win games, win more games, the rest takes care of itself.

Win nice, win beautifully, win ugly... win just win
