A coach like MM does not like plan B because it takes twice as long to drill a certain game plan in to the players.
The thing about Mick and Clarkson is this, Clarkson has realised that footy is a game of chess and you need to think 10 moves ahead. Mick on the other hand always plays the same opening gambit irrespective of what the other team does. That works if you have superior pieces on the board, but as soon as one or two pieces get lost you are in trouble.
The amount of times the Hawks had loose men in defence and we refused to man up was a major tactical mistake that nearly cost us the game and potentially cost us a few players because chances are he had to keep some of our key players out on the field for longer.

No Plan B, just take more chances. That Heath Shaw kick into the corridor when Blair pinpointed Cloke in the forward 50 was perfect. That option is always available when teams play the press and the only time we took it, was when we kicked that goal.

Micks strength as a coach is he doesn't change plans or players mid stream but has faith in them - its also his weakness at times. Can't have one without the other.

This. MM has never been one to move easily away from his strategies. Fevola killed us several times during the H&A season whilst MM refused to fill the hole.

But the absolute faith he shows in players must give them so much confidence to execute above their weight division.

Hafey was the same.

Fact is guys we can't win every game, sometimes when we lose the other team was just better on the day, i'm 100% confident that 'if' we play as well as we can no one can beat us, but that involves 22 players playing to their peak, don't blame the game plan, the game plan is sound, we just aren't playing very well ATM IMO.

Both MM and Shaw said "we didn't take enough risks and use the corridor". With the pressure that the Hawks placed, players chose to go down the line rather than risk the corridor. The 2 times we went through the middle via Blair (playing the Sidebottom role) from last year, we goaled. Sidey is also being primed for the midfield ala Daisy. Remember everyone bagging him while the club played him in a defensive role ?

Geelong go in favorites, not many (xept us) will be expecting the Pies to reverse their form or recover from a tough game as well as Geelong. The shackles are off. Plan B is simply show enough desire and mongrel to win at all costs. There's no way that something new can be introduced unless it's a match winning positional change. How often does MM do that though?

Plan B is and has always been to move a backman into attack. In this case Leon.:D

(Or get Leroy to run amok).
