Both good runners of the ball and give adelaide so much of their run.

Probably one out of the blue but how about put the responsibility on the shoulders of one of our youngest players.

He runs like lightening, tackles hard and gives it his 100% all. However he can also hurt on the rebound.

I think he would do a ripper job on either one and would boost his confidence ten fold!

Just keep on with your attacking game and force mcleod and stiffy johncock to be defensive. Make them chase your players.

Rooke could go to Mcloud as a negative HFF but I wouldn't change our structure too much. Stokes and Varcoe seem to be doing a great job at applying pressure while the others drop back in defense.

I think Adelaide will be fired up after an unexpected loss to Melbourne

Rooke would be perfect. Has the ability to hurt McLeod going the other way too. Don't think that Varcoe would quite have the experience at this stage to negate McLeod.

wonder who they will send shirley to would have to be jnr or jimmy you would think?
Will be Ablett. Jimmy never gets tagged though you think other clubs would start to realise how good he actually is by now. So many times yesterday he was just by himself in the middle of the ground. Got the ball, pumped it inside 50 and it resulted in a goal.

I would be reluctant to play Varcoe on one of the two, with his role to be very accountable and aware of his opponent at all times.

Rather he played with some freedom.

Varcoe is too one touch to run with a player as good as Mcleod. He just needs to be on his toes in the back half and they will feel the pressure.

Don't think Varcoe has the tank just yet to go with Mcleod, and he'd probably find himslelf being dragged up the ground whereas I think it's better to keep him inside 50 wherever possible, at least for now. How about Mackie?

Stokes I thought had a pretty ordinary game the other day. Love the little guy but he might not get up this week. On the other hand, I think he played a fair bit in Adelaide didn't he? So that might be a reason to keep him in.

I dont mind the idea of Varcoe keeping Johncock accountable...

With McCleod i reckon Linga is perfect, Linga can kick goals as well!

Rooke is another option for McCleoid

Rooke can kick goals as well, as we saw when he kicked 3 against the Power

If you have a player to keep Bassett accountable that would be most appreciated.

I think hes still trying to find the opponent he was supposed to stand from last years Prelim.

Good luck guys, Crows have too many underdone players, out of form or those carrying injuries I fear to be able to match it with your mob at the minute, but heres hoping that Melb loss stung them into being the team they were last year.

Is Basset the Crows own version of Kent Kingsley?
IE Whipping boy?
Going to be a tough encounter this weeken - really looking forward to it.
Good luck to the Crows but I think on form the Catters will just get up - and make it two from two in SA......

Let mooney punch 'em in the Balls and have a week or two off with his new kid HA HA .

I like it. Although that could quite easily become 6 weeks.

I would assume Ling will take Goodwin in the middle.

I'd like to think so. I don't think Linga can negate McLeod effectively but he can run with Goodwin. Good match-up.

Ling to Goodwin, Rooke to Mcleod. Their other midfielders are too workmanlike to worry about tagging, kinda like our midfielders.

Rook is a great match for McLeod. He'll be able to run with him not giving him much room or time to set-up from half back and use his strength to muscle him off the ball.

Cats have a really good chance to make it 2 from 2 at AAMI. Going into the break 8-3 sitting second is impressive. I don't think anyone expected that.

Pity that won't happen. 9-3 maybe? or 8-4. But not 8 -3........

I hope it is not just me but I wonder why we would be talking about Rooke playing on Mcleod when we have the highest scoring, most attacking and in form side going at the moment. The quickest and easiest way to stop mcleod is to make him accountable for a player who is attacking and kicking goals. If we go negative it will change the entire outlook of the side. We have had much success in the past 5 weeks playing aggressive attacking football why change? Let adelaide worry about how mcleod is going to have play a true defensive role this week to contain an attacking outfit.

Rooke has kicked 4 goals in the last two games. He can be very damaging going the otherway while having the ability to shut down players. It will hardly change our structure considering he has been playing on the HFF changing into the middle anyway.

Rooke & Ling have defensive roles most weeks. It is how they play there best football.

I think you are missing my point. Rooke has been playing across the HF line because he has been out injured he needs to get match fitness, much easier up forward where you are the hunted, not the hunter. But to my point you are all talking about stopping mcleod I say stuff mcleod play attacking football the way we have and make him accountable. Far too often coaches and teams are far too pessimistic and worry about what the opposition will do then putting faith in our team and the structures that have led us to a rather impressive 5 victories in a row. To steal from M. Blight it's fine if they kick 15 goals so long as we kick 20 and that is how we have been playing.

Haven't let a team kick more than 10 goals in the last month.
Hardly shootout football.

I get your point but I think it is naive to say the least. We are a very accountable side and while we are kicking big scores we are doing a very good job at stopping the opposition from scoring.

Rooke is a part of our team structure and he almost always gets a defensive role. It is a part of how we play, you simply can't let guys like Gilbee & Mcleod rack up 30 possessions. They are too damaging with there run and disposal. It doesn't mean that we start playing negative crap football. Part of what makes Ling's recent games so good is that he hurts opposition on the scoreboard. The same with Rooke. A few defensive assignments on key playmakers is necessary and has been a part of our game all year.
