Play White

The selectors dont have much idea really, why were they keeping Hogg out of the side when they werent bowling White anyway? it really doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Who are these supposedly "much better" batsmen than White? Im quite interested in who you name.

marcus north, brad haddin and brad hodge to name a few

Hodge is playing, Haddin i assume they dont want to risk his feilding abilities or something as they only see him as a keeper in any case i think White has been superior to him this season. North has probably been about on par with him this season. Im ibterested on any more names you have? It only takes one big innings for a player to find there feet just look at Symonds for example.

BTW i would like to see Hodge get a bowl at one day level i rekon he could be quite tidy as he has done for Victoria this season(probably a better bowler at saving runs than White.

true but Hodge only played a few games

White has been poor with the bat all series bar a couple of quick fire knocks when the sides being going well,
Ugh. That's EXACTLY where we were yesterday, banging along quite nicely. The situation yesterday was Cam White's exact bread and butter; that was exactly what suits him, yet instead we got to sit through a painful combined 19 off 24 balls from Hogg and Watson. You can't honestly tell at that point when they came out you were thinking 'Well thank god Cam White isn't batting!'. He probably would have gotten the extra 20 or 30 odd we needed.

and would have conceeded that extra 20-30 with the ball

Australia's batting and bowling mirrored each other yeseterday, great at the start, faltered there after when it mattered

Watson and Hogg were expensive though. What's your point?

White struggles to bowl at anything less than 7 an over on a good day, he would have been a liability at the bowling crease last night and placed even more pressure on a bowling attack already missing Andrew Symonds

How were the selectors supposed to know Australia would be in the position they were in?

They're not mind-readers. Why pick a good slogger at the death when its not guaranteed that that's when he'll come in?

Great point.

Watson is a soft useless prick and a terrible cricket player.

Hogg is an old fart and has always been an average second rate spinner.

Hogg's got career averages that are a shade behind Shane Warne's but no really he's been a really average player to last this long

With Symonds out of the side it was silly not to go in with one slogger to come in at around that stage.

we suck without white

watson and hogg made no runs
the 2 of them got carted with the ball

play white at the scg bowled great there last game

If going at 5 is getting carted, what would you call the utter tripe White offers game after game?

hogg's selection is indirectly related to white being dropped, but not the direct reason...

white gets dropped for shane watson... now that watson is in the side if they continue with their 4 specialist fast bowlers, they will have 5 fast bowlers and 2 part time spinners, therefore they drop a fast bowler, and bring in specialist spinner in hogg...

hogg plays because watson is playing, it just so happens that white is the player who makes way for watson...

I think the better question is why NOT pick a slogger, ESPECIALLY considering Symonds was out. Why would they pick someone who's been injured ALL season just to play in a finals series. He didn't work for it, he didn't deserve it.
