The first year he was underdeveloped body wise, 2nd year he was injured constantly and this year he has basically told the club he's going home ffs and doesn't want to play

But how do we know if he is good ?

You are making assumptions !

Sam Mayes is under-developed body wise, but has shown much more in his first year.

How do we know that he's poor, which is what you're asserting?

Because he isn't playing senior footy !

And Brisbane an average AFL team.

So every player not playing AFL football is poor now? Daisy Thomas played VFL on the weekend, he must be a poor AFL footballer too. Same with Trent West. Billie Smedts too.

I dont want an argument i just want to know who you think he is better than? I hate those ranking systems, not sure why they were ever invented they are the most flawed thing in afl these days except asada/afl officials!

If you weren't stewing for a shitfight, forgive me. Have to understand life as an Essendon fan has been a constant smacking of morons lately.

To answer your question, it depends what you're asking. Right now? This year? Going forward? That's why I was rather vague in my assessment and simply said one of the better rucks in the league - always turns into a 'my junk is bigger than yours contest'.

To give some context - another bloke was a little unhappy with the four year deal Ryder has, my response was that grabbing a top class ruckman, 25 years old on a long term deal for (supposedly) less than $500k a year is an absolute steal.

FWIW, I'd have only Cox and Goldstein and Natanui ahead ATM, and the gap wouldn't be large.

He's a great asset, would be in my top 5 players at Essendon.

Yeah, that's a really fair comparison. Guy playing his first game in months, Geelong's 4th choice ruckman and a kid trying to break into a team that's won 3 of the last 6 premierships.

You've lost the plot this week Ethan.

That's not what he said at all.

Polec has been at Brisbane for 3 years as a number 5 draft pick. Early picks get given more chances than anyone else, and he still hasn't broken through for more than one or two of Vossy's "let's play everyone on the list ahead of Karnezis and Cornelius" rotation games. There has to be something more to it than just homesickness - if he doesn't want to be there, let him play footy. Either he'll come around to being in Brissy or he'll increase his trade value.

Adelaide or Port will get him for SFA now.

Reportedly on $450k per year, tigers happy to offer $500k he and his manager want $600k.

Interest?

Pros: quality player, clearance getter, good disposal, goal kicker, long career ahead

Cons: troublemaker, endurance issue late in games, price

Personally I think he was led astray by Ben Cousins a fair bit and has developed some bad habits. However a change of culture with some good cleanskin leaders like Watson, Goddard etc could see him turn these around. I reckon 500k is about his right price but if you want to poach a player you generally need to pay overs and he could be worth it.

If we were to do the deal then we would have to offer something of value:

  • draft picks if we have them - r1 or r2
Player to suit Richmond needs ie ruckman, 2nd/3rd KF
Bellchambers - I wouldn't do it as it makes them harder to beat fixing an issue they have
Crameri - I'd do this for sure. Package him with a draft pick and/or exchange of draft picks
So personally yes to a deal trading Crameri + pick(s) for Martin

Ist rounder and Bellchambers would be a goer . You can even have your choice of Robin Nahas or a 3rd rounder to sweeten the deal.

OH GOD NO

Dusty Martin, Gaff, Hanley, Adams and Longer top my wishlist. Hope we go after at least one of them, as well as try to trade for Pick 1 and end up with the best forward combo for the next 10 years!

Alright , what about a bag of salt and vinegar chips or a 3rd rounder instead of Robin Nahas ?

Now we're getting somewhere :)

Hanley just signed a 5 year contract with Brisbane

Have no idea if your taking the piss but as your talking about a richmond listed player, i would assume I am able to retort.

You are seriously over rating your list if your think Crameri and a pick or two would get you dusty. Oh and I wouldnt worry about his "off field" behaviors

Yeah a lot of unjust innuendo in this thread about Dusty's 'party lyf'. He's certainly not the brightest star in the night sky but he's by no means a trouble maker.

make it nacho cheese corn chips and you have a deal

Dustin had a one off field incidents last year with Dan Conners at the centre of it which we took care of and have since put a lot of guidance into him, he has matured ten fold and i in no way want him going to another club, but you guys would be seriously under valuing having him if you think his off field issues of the past would be a problem for you and think he wouldn't have an instant impact of some degree.

Connors has certainly been a convenient scapegoat for Martin.

True, but wasn't there question marks or issues surrounding his off field exploits before that incident? In any case, it seems like he has ironed his issues out so for RFC or any prospective club, I doubt that would come into contention. The tat might though.

Yeah, Martin is far from a model citizen. There's a reason he's been living with the Richmond president.
