At 210cm and 86kgs he has to be setting some sort of record (e.g. longest spaghetti arm).

Would need to look at it in terms of the development of a pure athlete (as not much seems to be said about his football) as would have been the case for the someone like Pyke.

If you can satisfy yourself that he has the capacity to put on some serious weight and that his athleticism could be retained then, with an existing AFL background, it would be worth a shot. I'm not sure whether those are the sorts of developmental things that can be planned/predicted.

well he'd probably be a 3 to 6 year development player, bellchambers came good after what, 4 years of development, lets say he takes 5 years to come good Ryder will be 30 to 31 so will just about be ripe to take over from him. and a monster at 210cm

I don't think anyone would be a 4+ year project player. If they can't play after 3 years of development I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth having them on your list.

No surprises that Rayner came in first. NOB second, Aylett 3rd, Browne 4th and Colyer/Melksham tied 5th according to the video.

Stanton losing it.. knew we should have traded him! Delist! :p

Pleasantly surprised at Ayyylett! Good start for the kid!

Also 3 out of the Top 5 is sponsored by BF. :thumbsu: Love dem runners!

Stanton didn't run, this was only the 1st-4th years plus a few extras.

It was basically all the 1st-5th years actually, Melksham, Colyer, Howlett, Carlisle all there

Aylett: "I've gotten along with Gleeson and Hams... just sleeping with them temporarily at the moment." o_O

err.. good to see our young blokes quite open and welcoming to our new recruit I guess!
Not that theres anything wrong with that! :p

The exodus lives!

So that leaves Pears..

And if the news is true and Leroy Jetta can find a home.. BRING IT ON! Free up a list spot to grab someone in the DFA or PSD.. perhaps a guy like Weller..

I have been an avid Jetta fan, and I think he can play at AFL level.. but his time at Bombers looks done and I can't see him getting much opportunity moving forward.

If the player is not getting an opportunity and wants to move on then maybe but it is almost perfect to have a young ruck whose best footy wont start for 6 years away on a list at especially at Essendon as at November 2013. With the staggering of ages it allows for an essentially seamless change of rucks without any of the poaching/overpaying/etc that occurs when you have too many guys of a similar quality and age and not enough opportunities in a best 22.

With the potential in our first and second rucks we need 4 on the list. Bellchambers, Ryder, a mature aged grunt (realistically we probably go through 2 in the next 3 to 6 years) and a long term project like this kid who won't be commanding footy until Ryder and Bellchambers commence their declines.

The guy who is 6 years away at the moment probably becomes the cover by years 3-4 so in about that period of time the process should start again.

It's a pretty crude use of time frames etc but I think the principle stands. If we select the right people and can develop them about as well as we'd want to they'll be a glut at some point but it can't really be helped.

I don't disagree with the principles at all, but I think we'd be better off going a mature age ruck who could play if injury occurs. If two injuries or bad form occur, play one out with Daniher pinch hitting 20% game time. Rather than take up another two list spots for a position we have abundance of talent in. A long term project player who isn't capable of playing immediately is too wasteful currently IMO.

Sikora is the sort of guy who'd be great for the third ruck spot because, while he can probably pinch hit as required, he does not strike me as someone who gets around the ground enough to be getting best 22 minutes. He is the sort of ruck I think we could keep in reserve but who would be solid enough if called upon.

Daniher would have to be the fifth choice (which I think is fine for the next few years). I don't really see the spot on the list for another ruck though it would be different if it was a mobile KPF/KPD who can ruck.

Edit: misread your post.

Get Ben Brown campaign underway

fills two pressing needs on our list and has that scope to improve.

Apeness? He's apparently exceptional at both roles (being equally as good in each position). Not sold on Brown as the fact he's been overlooked 3 times has me worried that maybe clubs don't rate him.

Apeness' stock is rising by the day, apparently our old mate Cal Twomey reckons he'll be gone before 26, when 8 weeks ago when I did my shortlist he was more of a pick 55 plus.

Also with the whole Jetta thing, I prefer he stay tbh. purely because him going this year would mean we have to take pick 66 this year in a pretty weak draft, when next year we can just delist him out of contract and take a pick in a much stronger draft

True on both accounts, if Apeness does last to us we should absolutely take him though given he's probably the the best ruck available and (from his draft profiles) the 3rd best forward available.

As for Jetta you're right, as much as I want him gone the draft sanctions screwed any chance we had of offloading him in one form or another this year.

Unless we get a DFA before then.
