Of the 15 players drafted under pick 40, (our best chances for future success) in the 2000 to 2004 drafts, eight have already been sacked, three are playing for Bendigo and of the remaining four, three are yet to establish themselves as regulars.

This group should be the backbone of our team. What has happened?
Who should carry the can for this disastrous situation?

Of the 13 re-cycled players recruited since 2001, 8 have been de-listed, 3 are playing for Bendigo and jury is out on one of the only two remaining (Michael).
Who should carry the can for this deplorable situation?

We can bring player after player into the club but NOTHING WILL CHANGE until there is change at the top.

The success/failure rate for draftees at almost every club would be the same.

Mind you our drafting between 2000 and 2004 was poor.

I prefer the glass is half full argument ...we ripped the heart out of last years draft and in 2 years time we will see the benefits of that :thumbsu:

This topic will continue until Essendon supporters like Merv Neagle understand that NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNLESS THERE IS CHANGE AT THE TOP.
Why are all these players not making the grade on Sheedy's watch?

Last 5 years winning ratio is 43.8%. 3/4 of list underperforming and/or inconsistent. Now we have lack of discipline appearing again - Hill, Lloyd, Fletcher and McVeigh. How about having higher expectations for our team and club before membership/sponsorship drops, due to continual non-performance?

we can forgive lloyd, stupid tribunal are idiots
there was nothing it it, goodes did the same thing and got away with it
Mcviegh has improved out of sight, he doesn't back chat to the umpires, he just needs to learn not to get provoked by other players

Convenient that this comes as a time that Stanton and Winderlich were out injured and Monfries was having a much needed run in the two's. Few would doubt the ability of either of those three.

Our drafting and trading has improved.

Our recruiting department has under gone dramatic changes.

We also had five players in our side last Friday night from the last two drafts.

Convenient that this thread also comes after a loss and after two of the worst suspensions in the modern era.

Pull your head in and stop clutching at straws.

settle down fellows, we played very well on friday night and we probably would have won if we had 22 fit blokes and a guy named lloyd at full forward.

if we had won this thread would not have been started, so just wait until the end of the year before repeating things we have all heard before
