Prediction Player Positions

I am a bit bored with the trade thread, waiting for something to happen with Carlisle, so thought I would post about the 2016 team.

I was thinking what position changes could there be? With Bruce being such a success last year, does Richo have any more rabbits up his sleeve?

It has been suggested that Webster and Membrey might get some midfield minutes.

Will the end of the sub rule mean Hickey, Membrey, Bruce, McCartin and Rooey can play in the same team?

Where is Blake Acres best position, continue across the wing? Or maybe take on a Dempster role down back?

Will Sinclair get some more midfield minutes?

Where does Freeman fit in? On the wing?

So many things to be excited about 2016! Can't wait!

We will be expecting just about all the mid sized players to be able to play at least somewhat in the midfield to minimize the effect of the interchange cap (why people think this is going to slow the game down to any real kind of level is beyond me).

Webster already plays up reasonably high at times, he just generally only starts in the backline ever.
Membrey is an interesting one in regards to moving into the midfield. Likely will come off the forward flank, he is a big unit for his height and would push the likes of Fyfe around without much issue. This will also in turn allow Hickey more time up forward whilst still getting good use out of our 3rd talls.

We will be seeing a lot more of Rooey on the wing this year as McCartin gets better as well.

Im not sure if Blacers is really suited for an inside mid role or not. He has the height of Fyfe but not sure yet. We will be seeing him on the wing however.

Really hoping we limit the number of vets that play each game in 2016 - injuries allowing obviously. Something like the setup below with people rotating in certain positions. Steven back on the wing - avoid him avoid using his wrong foot as much as possible. 10 or 11 would have played less than 50 games which is about right for next season I think - don't really want a temporary blip up the ladder - when we go up there lets go up hard and stay there.

Wow, it is getting seriously tough to put together a best 22 these days, especially if we bring in Weller as a lot of you hope.
There are the only guys I would have as a lock for our best 22, I think the rest are going to be determined on week by week form and match ups.

I only have the following players as depth now, there are still some decent players in there but unless we are hit with a bad run of injuries or one of them shows the sort of VFL form that can’t be overlooked I don’t see how we can fit them in:

Templeton, Lee, Delaney, Ray, Curren, Murdoch, Wright, Shenton, Minchington, Pierce, Holmes

So I was sick of struggling to think of a best 22 and thought I'd try something different in an attempt to figure it out (and make life easier). Basically, I assigned each player a min/max number of games I expected them to play in 2016 if they were fit. I then averaged out that number and picked the top 22 on that list. It's not perfect but this is what it came up with:

It's a surprisingly balanced team. It must be noted that McCartin, Membrey, McKenzie, Ross and Hickey were all tied on 15 expected games each so they are interchangeable. I gave Hickey the nod over them cause he's probably more developed than the others and I think with the sub gone we could want the 2nd ruck (plus it'll hopefully boost Hickey's value for next trade period ).
