If this has been done already, please bump.
Now that we've had a few weeks to recuperate from the devastating EF loss, its probably about time to do a player ratings for the season.
Now that we've had a few weeks to recuperate from the devastating EF loss, its probably about time to do a player ratings for the season.
- 1 Chris Newman (ret) - B+ gave his all in his last year, and was an effective small/mid forward. Career high goal tally. is now gone and probably at the right time. disappointed to not win a final
- 2 Dylan Grimes - A- good solid season. his best season to date where his body didnt fail him. was important 3rd/4th tall who could play short. not an attacking player, but was rarely beaten
- 3 Brett Deledio (vc) (vet) A. missed a bit of the season at the start and showed when he came back how important he is and how much of a star he is. Made AA team.
- 4 Dustin Martin A- Improved out of sight this year, but started to tail off toward the end. will be primed next year
- 5 Brandon Ellis B+ quieter this season than last when he started to get more attention. will be better next year
- 6 Shaun Grigg B+ keeps playing better than he is rated. is playing an inside tagging role that he has done quite well
- 7 Matt Dea D despite a great year in the VFL, he couldnt crack a game in our impressive backline.
- 8 Jack Riewoldt A one of his best seasons to date. did more than just sit in the 50 and take hangas and kick goals. Did so much more team orientated stuff and has matured beyond belief. AA team showed that the AFL are finally taking him as seriously as we do.
- 9 Trent Cotchin (c) B- not as influencial this year. Seemed to be carrying the weight of 2014 on his shoulders and didnt seem to be coping. Terrible EF compounded a poor season for our Captain. Hopefully will be back better next year.
- 10 Shane Edwards A- another season best for Titch. Was flying in the first half of the year when noone else was, and was a serious AA contender until he broke his leg. couldnt get back to his best after that.
- 11 Jake Batchelor B- had a good season in the backline, but was destroyed by Waite in the EF. hope the continuity improves him next year, as Dea is waiting in the wings.
- 12 David Astbury D another season ruined by injury, and when not injured, he couldnt break into our team. still dont know if he is a forward or back, which is not good coming into his 7th season.
- 13 Ricky Petterd (ret) D injuries curtailed his season, and got one game before retiring.
- 14 Bachar Houli B+ good season providing lots of run and use of the backline, but will be rememberd for "that kick in" which cost us a top 4 spot in the end.
- 15 Chris Knights (ret) D is cursed. finally got back in the team after 2 years out and does hammy. announces retirement and then does ACL. never got to see the best of him.
- 16 Shaun Hampson D only played 4 games and while he was servicable in those games that cannot be considered a good year
- 18 Alex Rance A+ what can be said more than he was by far and away our best this year, and, in my opinion, the best player in the AFL this year.
- 20 Ivan Maric B had a good year, but is showing signs of slowing down. is well shown up when against quality ruckmen, and needs some serious back up options.
- 22 Nathan Gordon C- didnt show much when in the team and his career has probably got 1 year left if he is lucky
- 24 Ben Griffiths B- played some good games, but also quiet ones and was starting to show something until a finger injury ended his season. shouldnt have played the EF. needs a full preseason and be injury free next year. goalkicking needs to improve a lot next year as well
- 25 Troy Chaplin B again showed that he is a good intercept mark,. but is slowing down and is prone to a brain fade. good leader in the backline, who had a decent year
- 26 Anthony Miles A- his first full season at the club was very impressive. at the bottom of every pack and is getting better every game. contested king
- 27 Sam Lloyd B showed a lot when he was the sub, and was harshly dropped for the EF. good goal sneak, but lacks 2 way running
- 28 Taylor Hunt B- decent debut season. was iffy with the ball at the start of the season, but improved as the year went on. May be pushed out of the side if yarran comes in next year, or will need to become a hard tagger
- 29 Tyrone Vickery A massive improvement this year and became a quality KPF toward the end of the year.
- 30 Reece Conca D couldnt get fit, and shouldnt have played the EF. needs to stay fit next year
- 31 Nick Vlastuin B+ showed lots of improvement and maturity. Would like to see him play morein the midfield next year.
- 32 Corey Ellis C showed so much potentioal in the few games he played, and will be a star in the future.
- 33 Kamdyn McIntosh B+ Started like a house on fireb but faded as tthe season progressed. showed a lot and a great effort to play all 23 games this year. will improve again next year
- 34 Liam McBean D+ got the debut that everyone wanted, but showed little. gets an A+ for the VFL but needs to have a massive preseason to crack seniors for more games next year. Won the VFL goal kicking.
- 35 Ben Lennon B came on in leaps and bounds and will be better for the run. showed a real good goal sense and will make sure that we dont miss knights too much. very, very unlucky to be dropped for the EF. hope he stays
- 36 Matt McDonough (delisted) - D clearly wasnt rated by Dimma and his game tally this year showed it. played well inVFL but only got 2 half chances to show what he could do.
- 37 Connor Menadue C showed a bit in his few games. Will be better for the run and will need to put on a few kgs in the off season. has speed and stamina and good skills
- 38 Steven Morris C- massive fall from grace for someone just put on the leadership group. was tried up forwards and did nothing. spent time in the VFL then came back and still did nothing, very poor year.
- 39 Nathan Drummond NA played half a game and did his knee. probably was lucky to get a game in the first place.
- 41 Nathan Foley (ret) D didnt get out on the field and retired after a stellar career
- 40 Daniel Butler NA couldnt get his body right, but showed something in the NAB cup to suggest he could be a dangerous smal forward
- 42 Reece McKenzie NA no games and only kicked 10 goals in the VFL. a work in progress
- 43 Todd Elton D played his 2nd game 3 years after his first and promptly dropped again. needs a big preseason as may be his last.
- 19 Matt Thomas C- played 2 games out of the last 3 and was solid but they were against GC and Essendon. Dont know what the future holds for him. Almost won the Liston Trophy and would have had he not played the final 2 rounds in the seniors
- 44 Matt Arnot (delisted) D played once and was booted back out of the team. Dimma didnt rate him and has been deilsted. A hard nut who wins his own ball.
- 45 Jayden Short NA honestly didnt hear much about him, so means he was injured or not doing much in the VFL
- 46 Jason Castagna D+ showed remarkable style in the VFL and could be promoted next year
- 47 Ivan Soldo (B) NA very much a project player who played some VFL
- 48 Kane Lambert B+ horror start to his career but came back and became integral to our midfield/forward line. Did much more than he was expected to
