my opinions on the players. Please add your own

1. Andrew Walker-dnt
2. Jordan Russel- Solid effort by jordy today rebounded well. Like the haircut. IMHO he will improve immensly. 6.5/10
3. Marc Murphy- Pretty poor effort by murphs by his standard. Is only a NAB cup but seemed quite lazy today and didnt execute by foot as well as he usually does. Still will be a GUN 4/10
4. Bryce Gibbs- played ok. Still dont think he is pick no 1 material but will be a solid player. Good game today. Went in hard 7/10
5. Chris Judd-dnt:(
6. Kade Simpson- went in with guts as per usual. Was shadowed today by other players having good games but i thought he played pretty well. Loves it when he runs with the footy 7.5/10
7. Adam Bentick-dnt
8. Mathew Kruzer- Seems pretty promising, scored a goal, did a few things. Obviously will get heaps better 5/10
9. Jason Saddington- Pretty ordinary as per usual. I guess he didnt do to many things wrong though 4.5/10
10. Richard Hadley-dnt
11. Cain Ackland-dnt:)
13. Luke Blackwell-dnt
14. Brad Fisher- Until he got injured looked very solid. Took some good pack marks just basically looked dangerous consistnetly. 7.5/10
15. S.Browne-dnt anyone know why
16. S Grigg- Looked very good as a rebounding backman. Has the speed to run off but has the height to spoil the ball and play key roles. Very versitile 7/10
17. S Ohailpin-dnt:(
18. Paul Bower- Kept up his form from last season. Glad we swapped kennedy instead of him 7.5/10
19. Eddie Betts. Very damaging player with great speed and a great tackler. Played in the mid today and always used the ball well 7/10
20. C.Benjamin-dnt
21. M.Austin-dnt
22. Seun Hampson- people talk leunberger up. Watch this kid. Best young ruckman in the game. Can take a pack mark and kcik goals. Usually wins the ruck contests and has great athletitism. In short words GUN 8.5/10
23. A Hartlett. DNT
24. N.Stevens- Played ordinarily. Played in every position except ruck. Just give him some time 6/10
25. Brendan Fevola- Played well in patches but zoned off alot. One handed mark was brilliant. Very important in the third. 7/10
26. Joey Anderson-dnt
27. Armfield- Rough and tough tank who has good speed but specialises in tackling. What a great potential tagger he could be. Had a good game 7.5/10
28. C Cloke-scored a few goals and did servically in the ruck. Should be second ruckman to hammo 6./10
29. Scotland- Did the job like last year. Got the ball and delivered. 7.5/10
30. Waite- future all australian CHB. What athletitism he has the vertical leap and the speed and confidence. Great game 8/10
31. Banno-DNT
32. Bret Thornton-kicked two in the 3rd and played very well in the third. Should play a adam hunter roal 7.5/10
33. Ryan Houlahan- Got alot of the ball but probably worst on our team today. So inafective and is played in the wrong positions 5/10
34. Wiggins-dnt
35-asaike o hailpin-dnt
36Darren Pfeiffer he was everywhere BOG with HAmmo and . Used the ball at every cost. Will become a very handy player
37. Jake Edwards-Very Promising. Will be good compition for chf with Hartlett. Hope to see more of him in the navy blue guernsey 7.5/10
38. Ryan Jackson- pretty good effort by jacko. Nice supergoal. Will alos be a good tagger with army
44 Andrew Carrazo- You dont notice him but an absolute ball magnet. Just got back to his old habits a bit but not being effective with his kicking. Will be better next week.

Im going to bed as that took up too much time. Leaving that to HBF and those guys from now on

Watching game again now. Gibbs just kicked a great snap goal in the first qtr...very classy. Given our skills were down a bit I thought the younger brigade did well with their endeavour. "Freddy" Kreuzer and Hammo just kicked a goal each as well...man the future looks bright

Bryce Gibbs is all class and will prove he deserves the number one pick in the draft, don;t forget he was the youngest player in the draft and most of the guys his age are having their first year this year.

One thing Dennis Pagan did well last year was sticking Gibbs straight into the fire on James Hird, Aker, chris Johnson and players of that ilk, rarely was he beaten convincingly.

Will be a champion

Tx for the review but shite I must have narcolepsy.........I thought I watched the whole game but must have nodded off for all of Fisher's pack marks last night

I don't remember Fisher even getting a kick let alone taking pack marks. He would have been right in the running for our worst performer on the day.

And Bower - if only he could kick, could be a star!!! Showed some composure yesterday that he lacked last year. Loved his little sidestep. Played very well.

Gibbs is going to be much more than a solid player. Watch him around the ball and you'll see that instead of looking at his stats. He's all about quality over quantity at the moment but as he grows that will change.

Thank god you're not our recruiter

24. N.Stevens- Played ordinarily. Played in every position except ruck. Just give him some time 6/10

That's what they're doing. Do you want him to play four quarters in the centre in 36 degree heat in his second game in the last year.
Thank god you're not our coach.

Were you even watching the game? I would be surprised if fisher took one pack mark and i can remember him dropping multiple uncontested chest marks. He was definitely rusty but that should change before the season. Houlihan was far from our worst player and did some good things. Cloke didn't score a few goals.

Please only review players if you watched the game.

interestingly enough the Sunday Mail had Houlihan as our best. Still i would be prepared to trust the thread creators judgement before the Sunday Mail, but i don't think Houlihan was our worst either. I also disagree with your comments about Gibbs. It's the first game of his second season and he is still learning. He s giving us occasional glimpses of his brilliance atm and he will be a gun.

Fisher's dislocated a finger. Also how many players were playing last night cause there are only 23 listed, i thought we were meant to have 24 or 26 for the NAB cup:confused: can't pick who is missing

Thought Houlihan was one of our best. Showed as much composure as any Carlton player yesterday. Think the guy with the thread is letting past performances cloud his judgment.

We thrashed your A grade team last year.

Port are the biggest bunch of girls and chokers I've ever seen take the field after you created a new record on that one day in September.

Very happy with Gibbsy as our no1 pick ATM . Saddo seems a bit slow down back . Stevo needed to get that 1st game and ensuing nerves out of the system to help him get past that phsycological barrier about putting his body on the line and hurting his neck again . Armfield is going to be a real team player . Would be happy to try T-Bird at CHF for a while , why not ? Very impressed with all the 1st gamers overall , lets see how they cope next week !

I didn't think Fisher was that bad at all and I'm sure I saw him take a pack mark unless he fumbled it , whatever , he has played better i must admit but not too bad for this time of year . I too look forward to seeing an improved Bower this year but think the team in general still need to concentrate on their skill level , espescially under pressure .
Did The Snake play the whole game? How good did he look in the first quarter? Kept us in it I thought. Man, would he make a difference if he could hold down a forward spot.
Jake 'the snake' I'm guessing Thy ?
wow!

our B-grade team almost had ur team :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Your A-grade team wouldn't beat us . They're not that great other than being a bunch of pretenders . Our A-grade team could demoralise yours like the cats did in september now that we have a super midfield ! Besides , Fev said we'll make the eight :)

Hard to make a call on Gibbs so early.
He showed when playing for the tigers why he was number 1.
Just don't think he has brought that form across to AFL yet.
If and/or when he does you'll see why.
Seems to me he just hasn't found his niche yet.
His dad was a classy backman and I'm seeing
that role pan out for him.

Bryce was either in the midfield or he played down the back.
Either on the flank or sometimes at full back.
He was good at keeping guys honest and marking them super close.
In the midfield he was just hard to catch.
I work with a guy that's played against him a few times and just said
he was so quick and elusive it was crazy.
He used to find space so easily and was one step ahead of most blokes.
I see him as halfback player spending the odd spell in the middle.

Much appreciated :thumbsu:.

The Glenelg games I saw him play he played mainly across HB with some stints in the midifeld.....but IIRC he started down forward one game and kicked 6 for the match???
