Interesting to read Knights's comments regarding farewell tours for Johnson, and Michael and you could probably through Pev in there to.

I will get bashed for this no doubt but I find this totally counterproductive. Especially when you've got blokes like Hooker performing consistantly well in the reserves.

We are set for our 4th bottom 5 finish in a row. This makes us pretty close to the worst side for the last few years. We need to progress, not honor Mal Michael by playing him in the last 3 games when you could be getting some games into a kid that may become a player and has earnt a go.

This also on the back of Knights suggesting that Rama gets to decide for himself if he goes on next year. Staggering considering how he's performed this year.

Show some initiative. Be proactive and get us moving in the right direction.

There are only two games to go.

He's already sent Peverill and Michael back to Bendigo for extended runs and has said JJ will need to earn his spot to get a farewell game.

What benefit did we get playing Magin on the weekend?

We get more benefit long term by playing Magin, Hooker, Daniher than playing 3 blokes who won't be there next year.

There is no long term benefit by playing a kid who is not ready. This is a kid that is barely ready for VFL level.

It is irresponsible coaching if we have fit players and Magin gets a game. It's not benefiting anyone for a skinny kid to come in and fumble nearly every ball and look out of his depth.

Hooker is in a similar boat to Magin and is not ready.

We've been down this path before but Don35 doesn't listen.

Give JJ, Pev and Mal a send-off.
With no chance of making finals probably the only motivation to win we will have, to do it for the old boys.

With our injury list we dont have much choice, also Mal has been quite good and earnt his spot more than others. Rama might get to decide himself but I feel that if he is to go on next year he will have to earn his spot which means he will be about 35th picked. Picking blokes who aren't up to it like magin can only destroy their confidence. Hooker will most likely get his chance this week. Daniher is out for the season with injury I thought.

I think that is probably a bit harsh to say that there is no benefit in playing Magin in the side. Experience is experience, regardless.

Lets look at the facts;

Peverill came into the side when EFC was inundated with injuries and has performed admirably. He is filling the spot that would be taken by Houli, Winderlich, Myers , Hislop etc
Michael came into the side because of injuries. He is filling the spot that would be filled by Pears, Daniher etc.
Johnson was promised a farewell game and will probably play 2 because of injuries.

Given the amount of players we dont have available now the whole discusion is pointless anyway.

That's basically it. The guys we've got injured are generally our key players like Hille and McVeigh who we have built our wins around this year, and some of our most talented kids like Myers, Gumbleton, Dempsey, and Reimers who we have earmarked to be future stars.

The guys who are available are our vets who are retiring like Pev, Michael, and J Johnson, and guys who aren't really ready for AFL level like Bellchamers and Magin :D

Gotta laugh, really. We're going to do well to get within ten goals in both our last two games. If any other club had our injury problems - even the powerful Geelong - they'd bloody struggle to beat any team on the list, let alone finals contenders.

JJ has been a champion of this club (twice B & F) and deserves a send off. Would be different if we were still in the race for finals but we are not.

irrespective of finals, i'd be very disappointed not to get the chance to see jj and pev play one last game. there's nothing worse than champions of a club withering away in the 2nds and got coming out one last time. they've served us, as supporters, well, and as a club it's our time to serve them.

i like pevs work rate , i believe he'll be in our best 22 for the next 1-2 years :(

shame hes leaving / retiring
