Re: 2007 Delistees/retirees

Cole, Bolton. Heff and Hird are the only definates i'd think at this stage.
Then probably 2-4 of MJ, JJ (contracted though) Campo, Lee, Johns, Dyson and Lonergan will be in trouble depending on how many rookies we promote and how many draft picks we want.

Campo won't be offered an extension, he ain't the future of the club, as for Johns, well he has had sufficent time to prove himself and he has done, bugger all - so he can go.

Keep Dyson he has shown enough to be kept on

What has he shown? The only reason you would keep him is the fact that this is a weak draft and AT best Dyson is worth a 3rd rounder..and a 3rd rounder in this draft would be a 4th/5th rounder in last years draft and that player could be worse than Dyson. At the least Dyson provides backup. One more year, and if he doesn't make the most of it then he is on his bike!

- dont care how much u all knock em, I reckon they both can play, just havent had the right opportunity, hopefully that comes with a new coach and I dont think we will get better out of the draft

WTF..since when can Dyson kick? He is next to hopeless in terms of kicking and he is extremely incosistent. As I said I'll give him 1 more year but ONLY becuase it is a extremely weak draf and if nothing else Dyson is decent backup. I would expect us to pick a quick midfielder with our 1st pick this year anyway.

Dyson is a very good kick on the run. He does struggle a bit from set shots. Having said that, the game where both him and CJ played (cant remember who it was against) Dyson hit CJ on the lead 2 or 3 times. No one else even looked for CJ. CJ still hasnt work out the right places 2 lead yet, so for Dyson 2 be able to consistently hit him is a good effort. Dyson, along with WInders are our best kicks on the run IMO. Dyson just has to learn to settle a bit before he kicks it instead of trying to kick it when he is running full belt.

Next years draft has a heck of a lot more variety in the draft.. this year is basically the top 10-20 and thats about it. 2008 is shaping up as a decent draft, and dyson better be in the top 22 at the end of nex year otherwise he'll be traded for a draft pick!

how do u know it is strong

Becasue a lot of the underage kids and 16 year olds are playing better footy in the TAC Cup than their older team mates ;)

There will be good finds past pick 20 in this draft. The problem this year is the top 15 or so seem to stand out more than the rest. The real challenge will be finding the young mids who have the best upside as there are a hell of a lot that have similar pace, similar skills and are around the same size.

The starting 22 plus the 6 contracted players give us a list of 28. We will use atleast 5 draft picks giving us a list size of 33. say we get someone in the PSD and promote Hocking we will still need 5 players to fill our list and they will most likely come from this lot.

Hahahahahaha - get me the needle and thread. Dyson for brownlow aswell. He has had his chance and doesnt want to be our next bolton (without a goodes or kouta) - time to go ricky and time for you to find a new hero. 46 games and hasn't had a chance....hhmmmm

Done.

Maybe it was wishful thinking :D

Well i have heard a little rumour that a certain club based a little south west of WH are sniffing around......

Where in that post did I mention Ricky not having a chance???

I agree he has had his chances, BUT, there are players that will be delisted/retire ahead of him this year, so he will more than likely be on our list next year. Hopefully he can get a few games and prove everyone on here wrong.

If they watch his game on saturday then his chances wont be great....

With the 4 retirees we have had recently thought I would update this contract status prior to trade week.

We have freed up 2 spots on our list with 4 retiring and the promotion of rama and hocking. The following blokes are out of contract and must be getting worried

Kepler Bradley - thought he might have got another year
Richard Cole - will probable be gone if no one wants at trade week
Ricky Dyson - almost definitely gone with resigning of lonergan and hocking
Mark Johnson - will be traded to port
Damian Peverill - future unclear at this stage

The only chance that one or more of these will stay IMO is if Johns is traded and JJ agrees to retire or be paid out.
