Good to see the older brigade on here. Wow - wearing Bones number?. mate you are older than me and im bloody ancient.

I opened the thread expecting to hear more from those that grew up with Nick Daffy as their childhood hero and seducer into the dark side of barracking for Richmond.

Yep. Number 8. Michael Roach. I remember thinking of getting Greg Strachans number 19 because it was a number you rarely saw on the back of Richmond jumpers.

BTW - Anyone want to fess up to wearing the portrait badge of any player with the ribbons attached.

I got a RFC jumper in the late 90s, I also really liked Daffy and Richo but I decided to get 9.

Great thread to read.

I remember going to the local sports store to get a number put on my jumper in the mid-late 90's. They didn't have any 1's so I left with Darren Gaspers number ;)

Had Matty Knights no 33 on my jumper back in the 90's. My sister sewed it on for me. She said it was a real bitch sewing two 3's onto a jumper.

I'm 46, only a young bloke

I'm 46 and young AT IT too. I had NUMBER 8 - Roachy, but only cos my Mum bought it without asking me for my opinion. I'm pretty sure I wanted D.Clokes deep down. And my very very English Father bought the beer for my 21st birthday from David Clokes pub, so David carried all the cases out to Dads car. SO MY DAD GOT TO MEET HIM AND HE NEVER KNEW THE FIRST THING ABOUT AFL

I had several in those 70's & 80's

4 - Royce hart (the greatest of them all)
29 - KB
2 - Neville Roberts
11 - Bruce Monteath
17 - Maurice Rioli

A million memories come flooding back of emulating all of them in the back yard, except for Rio of course (I was a bit old for playing footy in the back yard when he came along).

A lot of older blokes here (which there's nothing wrong with)
I'm only a young boy. I play u/18's Currently, anyway, I play in two numbers which are #3 after my favourite player Brett delideo (which is who I try to model my game on) and when I go away to play football against other teams I play in #20
