Who,of course, had a loss of game time through being suspended by the tribunal.
Both of them a real waste, but mostly the Ant.

His lack of discipline was his only weakness.

mark bolten has the athletism to match it with pavlich and goodes, but he is just not any good so therefore its wasted talent

Hypothetically - if we were playing in a GF against Sydney or Fremantle, would you pick him to shut those guys down or would you just leave him out?

For me Scotty Cummings.

Kicked a bag on debut in the AFL. He was brilliant as a 17/18 yr old kicking bags each week for Swan Districts in the WAFL. He was in top shape then. Very strong grab on the lead and one of the most accurate kicks i had seen. Became lazy somewhere along the line. Probably didnt have John Todd thrashing him. Did win a Coleman for the Weagles but he could have achieved a lot more than he did. Could have been one of the all time greats.

A bit of a blast from the past here, but my one was a guy named Julian Kirzner. Was an absolute star junior player, I think he kicked about 25 goals in one game for his school, Gennazzano College in Melbourne. I really thought he was going to be our best full-forward since Blethyn. I was rapt when we recruited him. He played most of 1994 in the reserves and booted something like 70 odd goals to finish second in the reserves goalkicking. Played the last game of the season in the seniors against Carlton and kicked 1 goal and generally played pretty well, I was thinking yep everything's going to plan. Then just really went downhill in 95, to the point where he got delisted after the pre-season Lightning Premiership in 1996. At that time, I still rated him and thought "this one is gonna come back to bite us on the bum", he went to Carlton, put in a couple of good reserves performances but never played a senior game, then went to the 'Roos, played a few senior games but in general struggled, and that was the last I heard of him. He was really a player who I thought would be a superstar, but just didn't work out for him.

I remember seeing him play quite a bit in the 2's when i'd get to the ground early. Just another of the many who look the goods but just can't make the step up.

Think you might have the school wrong given that Gen is a girls school.

Big Jules is still playing for Ajax and still kicking a bag.

Exactly how has Courtney wasted his talent? It was not like he went out and asked for a possible career ending hip injury
If he doesnt make it it wont be because he wasted his ability , he has worked unbelivably hard to get this far.
I agree. Well said.

Brad Plain, Damien Cupido, Bill Berry, Danny Jacobs, Scotty Cummings (too much grog). Scott Ridley, magnificent mark , long kick, looked like a world beater, and then - nothing.
Michael Werner came to us with big raps but just wasn't able to shine at the higher level.

David Flood, he kicked 8 goals against the Allstars, he even had David Cloke as one of his opponents & he beat him, unfortunately never did anything after that. Bad attitude, preferred living the good life, no commitment to footy.

Mantis, you sure you have your information there about David Flood correct?

Doesn't sound like the David Flood I know.

Yes I do, it might't be the Floody you know now, but was certainly true in the 80's. ;)
