Do you think any of the Pies know how to Play for the black and white jumper like in the old days.

The Only 1 I know is Buckly.

Comments!

Licuria certainly does, not sure how many other of our current players were Collingwood fans when growing up, guessing I would say both Shaws were, but apart from them & Licuria I have no idea.

I agree with the general concensus of this thread. I dont believe we have HALF as many players in our list that play for the jumper as there was 20 years ago. It feels like the black and white blood of players is just turning red. They have become mortals. Collingwood players used to be Gods, now they are just celebrities who go out clubbing and play football with some passion, but also as a job. We need a bloke by the name of Darren Milane to come in and captain these guys, he'd set this list straight.

Milane was a larriken, like Dermott Bereton, Jason Akermanis ect. But they backed it up on the football field.
A footy larriken is very different to an absolute immature person like Fev was last year, and an absolute wild Tarrant this year.
Judge me and argue with me all you want, but I dont think anyone can EVER dare challenge the commitment of Darren Milane to football compared with Fevola's and Tarrant's. Who are both just showponies who love the football, but also love the girls (I know Fev is married), and attention ect.
Both act stupid, Aker and Taz, but who does the worse things? Even Aker said, I dont break the law. Hes right.

I agree that Milnae Backed Played really well for the pies.

But think about this, if he didn't drink then we would probably still be alive and pies could of had a few more flags!

Johnson's hero was Browny and got his number. I think he plays for the jumper. There are only a few Collingwood supporting (when they were younger) players playing today that I know of:
- Johnson
- Iles
- Morrison (retired)
- Caracella (retired)
- Licuria?
- Shaw boys
- Anthony?

How did you know these guys are Life Time Pie Supporters.

From memory this is a list of who barracked for who...
Adel: Rusling, Burns
Bris:
Carl: Holland, Egan, Iacobucci
Coll: Morrison, Caracella, Licuria, R.Shaw, Johnson, Stanley, Anthony, Cloke x 3, Iles (so says Jabso), H.Shaw
Esse:
Freo:
Geel: Thomas (sort of so he says), Tarrant, Fraser
Hawt: Maxwell
Kang: Davis
Melb: Lonie, Buckley
Port: Didak
Rich: Rocca
St.K:
Sydn:
WCE: Lockyer
WB:

Unknown: Clement, Rowe, O'Bree, Walker, Wakelin, Pendlebury, Davies, Richards, Cook, Fanning, Prestigiacomo, Swan, Hall, O'Brien

I think O'Bre and Wakelin were Carlton, and I think Rowe was Hawthorn but not sure.

Prove it.

I'm not going to go through all my old records to find the pen pic of him from years ago to show you are wrong.

I reckon generally players don’t play as much for the jumper as they once did. For a start it is big business now and they can ear a lot of money. Once they had to work as well play so they only did it if their harts were well and truly in it.

Agree. Playing for the jumper has gone the way of duffel coats and tinnies at the footy. It's all about the money today. Sure players will give their all for the team they are playing for but every player playing in the AFL will switch teams for a price.

Iles' brother supported Collingwood, so I suppose Sam did. Total guess though.
I didn't speculate on the Clokes as I thought from an early age with David playing for both clubs that they either go for Rich or Collingwood or are a bit disinterested after he left Richmond.

I wasn't sure whether Buckley supported Roos, Geelong or Melb.

Thomas idolised Ablett but it doesn't really mean he supported Geelong.

Maybe JAJH can fill us in on what team Anthony supported?

Again it's a wild guess but what about Stanley?

On a slightly relevant note, has anyone read the barrackers are shouting? Rhyce Shaw writes an article and said his 43rd or so game was a big milestone because he copped alot of stick from uncle Neville saying he'll never play as many games as him.

Just to throw another name into the ring, but I get the feeling that Alan Didak just bleeds for the jumper, and I think it's fair to assume that both Rhyce and Heath Shaw do as well.

Players play for the club that has shown faith in them and given them a go, more and more now players will not move clubs, whether its a decision by the club, but players like to stay with the one club!!!

Millane would be tossing in his grave if he saw how some of our players play the game!!!!!

Gavin Brown played for the jumper!!!!

I think you can blame that on the draft, the old zoning rules meant you would most likely end up at your local VFL team.
