It was posted on Demonology that on Monday apparently some of the younger players held a team meeting questioning the leadership of some of the leadership group.

Hmmm now thats interesting! Who do u reckon would instigate such a meeting? Our players all seem so introverted its tough to guess...

Have you got a more exact link DM? That just went to the Demonology homepage...

Not sure there was meeting, but I spoke with one of the younger players on monday & there does appear to be a rift. The main problem was that there was a definite sense of being ignored on the field (older players preferring to use another older player) even if the younger ones were in best position to receive the ball.

A feeling of playing for individual stats instead of for the team.....

I probably wasn't surprised to hear this, as I have seen at the games this year numerous occasions where the best option hasn't been taken.

I hope the meeting did take place & these younger players said their piece
& things change for the better.

Yeah D.R i have seen that ignoring of players , mostly Watts when he gets free and then they pop it to Robbo who plays for the free.

Anybody thought that they aren't ignoring players and that they are just shit decision makers? I thought it was pretty obvious.

All this talk about a "rift" in the team is crap, it's just a rebuilding teams frustration because they are struggling at the moment.

Making mountains out of molehills.

how the **** would you know dez, you are not in the inner sanctum of the club. im sorry but, i think it is great by the younger players to stand up to the playing group and take onus on their own development.

And you are in the inner sanctum?

Calm down champ.

Not sure if it's true - for arguments sake, lets guess it is - but I actually like the idea of the young blokes taking charge and challenging the leaders.

Shows they don't want to accept mediocrity, starting from now.

The so called 'Rift' was not my words but the player who I was talking to.

Frustration is probably more the point, the young guys are trying to break into the team & stay there, but when they move to a certain position on the ground & are ignored, then the ball is turned over & their player
is the one who takes posession & clears it for opposition, the players cop the flack from older team mates. There is a feeling of should I or shouldn't I make a move, which results in being caught out of position at times.

I'm sure Baill's & co can sort it out.....

Well, I view it as somewhat positive that the young players are prepared to stand up for themselves and inform the more senior players of their feelings. This way, the problem can be recognised, and then arrangements can be made to enhance the situation.

I just hope the senior players, if this story is true, accept the issue, and don't just view it as something that is insignficant and trivial.

I agree, it is a positive step for the club. the senior players should be accountable & every player in the team used in the play where required.

The number of senior players on our list has dramatically dwindled at the end of the last two seasons, and will drop some more at the end of this year. The youngsters will find themselves in the vast majority soon enough and not have to worry about being ignored. Natural progression.
