When the draft happened Terry Wallace said he wouldent be playing olur draftees first round, just wondering what your thoughts on them playing are?

u talking bout rookie listed players or just drafted players? drafted players: some are unexpectedly ready to play at afl level tw says in a radio interveiw. those imo would be tambling, deledio, pattison, and possibly meyer. tambling and deledio are two players that will be seen plenty during the home and away season. possibly more of tambling as deledio is still completing school, those of you that dont know, deledio is completing half of his year 12 education this year and half next year. i guess this would be to ease the pressure of deledio. meyer i think may be a player like hartigan, not fully expected to play much but will end up putting more than expected games under his belt. pattison im not so sure of but he could possibly imo get a max of 10 games. if you are talking about the rookies: i doubt that they will play a single game this year. if they are elevated i really think its pointless..... there are much more players ahead of the 2 rookies atm. however one could prove much more than expected and bring himself up to Afl level. doubt it. hopefully ived answer your question somehow! go tiges!!!!! :D

It should also be remembered that there is a big difference between playing the home and away season and playing the wiz cup, especially in the early rounds.

It's a pre-season comp, and because of that, players will be taking fewer injury risks, meaning tackles wont be as hard. This means that the new guys, who tend to be lighter and less able to take 4 quarters of punishment stand up relatively well.

Everyone knows this, so more rookies get a game, and look better. ( also because teams will rest their senior players ).

He didn't actually say that.

He said he wouldn't rush them into the team If they were not ready, he said he wouldn't be using the draftees as bait in order to get the members to sign up. He said if the dratees could show him that they were ready he would have no hesitation in picking them in the side.

Obviously some of them are ready because they have been picked and I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH IT, GET THEM OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!

Some of them have to be picked whether they are ready or not. It is a numbers game. We have so many kids that 3-4 have to be in the team no matter what.

We couldn't leave them all out even if we wanted to.

Hello, where have you been my son?

I beg to differ:

Graham Gaspar Hall
Kellaway Bowden Chaffey
Hilton Johnson Tivendale
Richardson Simmonds Brown
Campbell Stafford Morrison/Pettifer
Knobel Newman Hyde

A side 22 and up.

I understand what your saying Weaver, with 15 players on our list 19 or younger (only 2 rookies), 21 players 22 years of age or under we have a very young list and will have the likes of Jackson, Hartigan, Schulz, Raines, Tambling, Deledio etc will most likly be playing 15+ games this season.

I was trying to put forward the point we have alot of average senior players which will be playing for there spot on the 2006 list. When I look over 'peoples best Richmond 22' I often note that alot of our senior players are not there. Graham, Kellaway, Gaspar, Chaffey and to a lesser extent Hilton, Hall, Morrison ,Tuck, Pettifer and co.

Lets hope a least one or two these older blokes, which really should be the backbone of a AFL club can step up and be part of the new era at TigerLand.

Id be very sad if none of them did. The likes of Kellaway, Chaffy, Gaspar are just too good to be givin the chop alot with the Hilton types.

Sure the glass can be half-full if you want but that's no fun.

Alternatively you can look at our 28-man Wizard Cup squad and look at the 12 guys who missed out on being named in it.

Shane Morrison (inj)
Rory Hilton (inj)
Ray Hall (inj)
Kayne Pettifer (inj)
Alex Gilmour (inj ?)
Dean Polo
Luke McGuane
Dean Limbach
Kelvin Moore
Kyle Archibald
Will Thursfield
Nathan Foley

Hall would be in our best 28, but none of the others have made a case. So guys like Schulz, Hartigan, Tambling, Deledio, Pattison, Roach, Jackson, Raines and Meyer don't have to do much. Some of them pretty much HAVE to be in our best 22 every week no matter what.

I just suppose I am a bit uneasy with the idea that because Tambling, Deledio and co are in the team they must be very good. That they have forced their way in so early is a big positive. Not really. It is going to be harder NOT to get a game than get one at Richmond this year.

I wouldn't expect he'll get a lot of game-time evo, Knobel will do the bulk of the rucking, Pattison will be used to rest him I'd be guessing.
