I've read about how you don't need a mod chip to play copied games etc. on your playstation. All you need is this boot disk. Does anyone know if they actually work or are just a con.

If they do work can I get one off the net and if I can could anyone tell me where from.

Thanks.

I have read plenty of stuff about this on the net and there are some good websites out there with information......

Just use a search engine and you will find plenty of info out there. It can get a bit confusing though, and there are some ways to get copied games working with boot disks, that involve opening the PS2 up and stuff.......but doing that you void the warranty..

Easiest thing is just to get a messiah modchip installed ($100-150) and that doesn't need boot discs or any ****

Boot discs by themselves are around $80-100 by themselves

Is it worth getting a Messiah chip and risking stuffing up your ps2?

If you get it done at a recognised tech place they will give 1/2 years warranty to match your existing PS2 warranty

Stay clear of backyard chippers

Half year? I have heard that it stuffs up the PS2 within a couple of years?

I guess you'd probably get your money worth by that time wouldn't you?

1/2 as in 1 or 2 years not 1/2 year

Place where I got mine done gave 2 years

Chip shouldn't stuff up the PS2, all a modchip does is reroute the copy protection settings and even if the modchip dies eventually still would play original games/DVD's

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

Can you tell me some details of where I can get this chip installed and how much it would cost from those particular places?

Thanks.

As for a boot disc

Action Replay (AR2) is the best (and is available at K-Mart)

I'm talking about the ordinary PSX, not the PS2. Do they sell boot discs for that anymore?

I know, I've been lazy and haven't done anything about a chip or disc for a while.

Thanks champ.

Do they play any copied ps1 and ps2 games? Or just PS2 games?

And what dvd's can you play with it?

Cheers

The new "messiah chip" can play copied PS1, PS2 CD-R's/DVD-R's along with originals

Thanks,

I probably won't get the chip as yet as I really don't want to lose the warranty, and I don't want the people who make AFL Live end up not making enough money then not developing more AFL games.
