Please help

I can't use My HDTV at the moment when playing my ps3 I am switching to SDTV and when i put my ps3 on i just see a blank screen. I now that i have hold the start up button for 5 seconds till I here 3 beeps to reset my factory settings and play it on SDTV.
I was just wondering If i do that does it delete my saved data.

What you need to do is go onto an HDTV and change the settings on their so that it's configured for an SDTV and then take it to the SDTV.

you can do it that way, but holding down the button works just as well plus its quicker (especially if the HDTV is 300km away like mine was once , and that was before i knew about the three button trick)
