I got these stats from the Collingwood site, http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfeatures/news/newsarticle/tabid/5586/newsid/96682/default.aspx

Pleasing stat no.

1. 1st in the league for contested possessions - this is not only pleasing, but very surprising. I couldn't really ask for more and clearly we have hardenned up with the inclusion of Ball. A very nice statistic, shows how hard our players have been going.

2. 2nd in Centre bounce clearances - Swan and Pendlebury still doing their thing, and up 6 spots from last year. Once again showing the impact of Ball's in and under work. If Jolly can improve we can shoot to 1st in a blink.

3. 1st for inside 50s - shows we have been attacking, yet we have dropped off lately.

4. 3rd on the ladder with 34 points - as opposed to 28 last year, speaks for itself really - with such a hard first half season.

5. 3rd for tackles - 8th last year. Medhurst, Davis, Ball, Swan, Pendlebury can hold their heads high.

6. 2nd for contested marks - Cloke the biggest contributor, very good output and I'm so far very happy with his year. (It's not his fault he doesn't play in the goal square.)

7. 57,241 members. Great stuff.

Some displeasing stats

1. Scoring and kicking efficiency - 10th and 11th respectively. We all know it needs to improve and this just backs it up.

2. Debuts - 0, this is pretty poor, even Geelong have had 2.

3. 15th in Ball up clearances - Shocking, not blaming Jolly though, he's only rucking 60% of the time, the other 40% we have Wood or Fraser who have probably averaged 4 hitouts a game. Jolly's hitouts are quality in general. (I'd rather 20 hitouts with 15 effective, than 40 and 14 effective). (If someone can get these stats and tell me otherwise then that would be appreciated, I'm just going by watching his games)

4. 15th for hitouts - see above.

This stat doesn't concern me. Our first two picks this year were Jolly and Ball. They have played and 'debuted' for the club. Apart from the first year players and say blight and rounds, just about every other player on our list has played senior AFL footy. We should be pleased with the development of Thomas, Wellingham, Reid, Harry, Beams, Toovey and Sidey, and even probably Macaffer... That's a much better stat for us than first year debutants. Their time will come but we are a pretty young side anyway whose players have senior experience. Who would rounds, blight, thomas and sinclair directly replace in our starting 22?

2nd in centre bounce clearances yet 2nd last in ball up clearances. Startling.
