Im very wary about trading Polak. He has the potential to bite us in the bum more than any other trade we have done in the past.

whoever gets him has a 10 year KPP on their hands

I think your first pick will probably do it,but id prefer a player

Yeah, I'll agree on that actually, now that I've thought it through. Polak is a big risk, both on and off field, particularly if we trade him for one of the best hard working kids on our list.

It appears as though Farren is underrated at other clubs, but we at Dogland all know how good he actually is. I am now saying no to trading Faz. They can have Street though.... for nothing.

what peoplel also forget about polak is he had a lot of time out with shoulder reconstruction - which may have drawn him down the slippery slope of the "social activities"
& it is possible that he would respond better to a 'rocket' rather than 'cuddles' literally

Now we're talking.... Fair for both as he's not getting a game at Freo, and the Dogs would be taking a risk, but for a player with an enormous amount of potential.

Yes to Polak, he is an excellent mark and is strong in a contest.

Been great this year!!!

Why do you want someone elses problem?

We couldnt go for polak AND aker, so i hope we go for Polak. The type of player that he is, is exactly what we are missing (a KPP who can take contested marks and is versatile).

We cant rely on the fact that Darcy is coming back from 2 reco's, williams hasnt played a game yet, Walsh could very well be delisted at the end of the year, and tiller, mwest and wells will be YEARS away from making any impact.

We need a player like polak. God help us if hargrave or harris got long term injuries next year. we would be screwed.

Polak may not be the JESUS we are waiting for, but at least he is a READY MADE player for our team next year, unlike our other talls.

What he said.*

And we trade just our first round pick (fair enough for a bloke running around in the WAFL).

* Declaration of interest: Longtimers here will recall I was one of the most vocal to get Rawlings. Therefore my support for this could turn it into a complete shambles.

I for one wouldn't be happy trading Hargrave for Polak. Hargie is an important piece of our backline and it would be a case of getting rid of someone playing well in the HOPE of getting someone better.

I think getting Polak is a risk, but is worth pursuing if the price is right. He was a high draft pick and at his best is very good.
Maybe Skipper is the right trade, with say a low draft pick.

Hargrave gives us flexibility- he can play on a short or tall, can go forward and is a good link man. He also has a bit of mongrel which I like.
Don't trade Hargrave!

KM, I fully agree. I'm not sure why some are pushing the Hargrave for Polak bandwagon. Hargrave is a lot like Morris in his ability to play on a variety of players. I guess if he wasn't from WA it would probably wouldn't be getting too much of a mention.

Given the strength of the draft trading away our 1st round selection is also a risk.

No way would we give Polly and a pick for Ray. In the scheme of things Polly has done more at the top level than Ray has, just not in the past 2 seasons.
So Polak has been better than Ray right up to the time Ray was drafted?

I'm very much in the Pro-Polak group but there is no way I'd trade Ray for him without a decent sweetener to go with it. And only then if Ray wanted to go home.

If Ray wants to stay, Ray stays.

From Freo's perspective, surely the one thing Freo need to make them a genuine premiership threat is more pace

I would also be disappointed if the club traded Ray for Polak just because we wanted a tall.

If any interstate player wants to leave then the club needs to get the deal.

I fear for our 'premiership window' if you're suggesting Wight will be the centrepiece of our halfback line within the next year.

He's been on the list for four years and is still pretty light on. I can't see Wight holding down that posi for at least a few more years.

He's only played 8 games.......that's his whole career and you want him in CHB??

Leave Shaggy - he is too versatile and I would like to see him backing his judgement a bit more and coming forward.

Let's be brutally honest the trade that works is Harris for Polak AND a pick.

Harris is what they need and we get a CHB - which we need badly. Harris has too many goals kicked on him, has been beaten by all of the big guns this year - we had to play Morris on Fev for god's sake - and his decision making and disposal are a real issue.

If he promised to never kicked the ball again then I would kill the trade but otherwise lets get something for him while he still has value.

Don;t forget Polak was drafted at no 4 in a very good draft and is tall so they take some development.

we don't need harris & you didn;t exactly put a sales spin on him :)

who would play full back? never kick the ball again....sure you're not getting confused with KMAC? Tim Walsh was also pick 4?

One of the more bizarre posts I've seen here, although there was a "trade Cooney" thread.

Either you are off your rocker or you have grossly underrated Harris.
Firstly his kicking is no worse than Morris or Ray.
If we get rid of a FB we will need a FB. While Morris was good on Fev, he cannot take the Gorrilla FF. Harris does.

No point trading a good young tall backman for another.

I'm trying to be brutally honest and I still can't see our side becoming successful without Harris.

Couldn't agree more!! We might as well trade Johnson, West, Cross, Boyd, Eagleton, Giansiracusa, Cooney, Ray, Darcy, Grant, Morris, Smith and our first round draft pick for Polak while we're at it.

Seriously though, how about we trade Street for nothing at all? He wins so many taps, but rarely do any of them go to advantage for us! We might as well bring Libba back to do the ruck. (Sorry Streety, I know you try...but)

Wight will be a better defender than Harris - quicker - smarter - better disposal. Will still take some time but looks good.

Wight is nowhere near Harris' level. Harris has occasionally been beaten, but he has to play on the number 1 or 2 backman each week. His speed is fantastic and i have never doubted his smarts. Wight would struggle against any of these players. To do this Wight has to put on some bulk, otherwise he'd be shoved aside and I can't see Wight putting on a whole heap of weight any time soon.
